How to get your book into a library

I read a nice story the other day about eight-year-old Dillon Helbig from Boise, Idaho, USA. He has always wanted to see a book of his in the library. So he wrote and illustrated an 81-page book called The Adventures of Dillon Helbig’s Crismis.
He used a journal given to him by his grandmother, then added stickers on the spine, to make it look more like the other library books on the shelf.
He sneaked the book into the library and placed it on a shelf amongst other books. When he went back a few days later, the book had disappeared. After initial fears that the book might have been confiscated by library staff, it was found and catalogued. At the time of the article, there were four readers in line waiting to get their hands on the book.
So, all you aspiring writers, that’s one way to get your book in front of the public.

Kudos to the young aspiring writer. Getting my books on the local author shelf of the local library was as easy as visiting the librarian and showing her the books.
To date, my books are available at 3 public libraries, one middle school library, and one high school library that I know of. This doesn't include copies in teachers' classroom libraries.

I would just like to get my book published. Dillon had his dreams realized which was great.

@LindaOHio That could happen. One of the librarians said it was a good story.

@JudyEv I hope he kept a copy. Maybe a publisher will come along after reading the article and publish his book.
