Normally I am used to thinking that I am a person with an average cultural level in relation to the society in which I live, and I consider not to have a tendency to discrimination in any sense, the second I comment just to let you know and the first is the starting point of the topic that today I want to share with you, and I want to start by telling you my story.
I live in a country where I was taught to read and write and that was enough to say that I was literate, the passage of time and the most wonderful thing that exists in the universe that is knowledge itself, makes me doubt at times and inspires me to look if there is a new concept of the word illiteracy and what better place to investigate than “Google”.
It is really surprising what we can find in Google, it turns out that nowadays knowing how to read and write does not exempt anyone from being an illiterate person, in modern society being literate goes a little beyond possessing these two skills, in fact, concepts such as functional illiteracy and digital illiteracy are handled, which, regardless of whether they are divided, are closely related from the general point of view.
It is very clear that I do not have the right to blame anyone for my average cultural level because in a certain way the level of education, in recent years, is oriented in that self-learning predominates more than learning induced by a teacher.

The lowest form of literacy would the ability to communicate based on the ability to read and write. Basic literacy.
More advanced literacies follow and can include mechanical, electrical, special skills, political, social... You know.
Everyone has different levels of literacy in all things.
I can't program a computer but I can rebuild your transmission.
When it comes to computer programming, I am illiterate.
When it comes to rebuilding transmissions, I am literate.
A person that wants to become literate can do so in most cases.
So, the simplest definition would be the lowest form of written communication.
Anything above that becomes education or knowledge.

I always thought that literacy was the ability to read and write, therefore I thought that I was literate. But now I learn there is more too it than that!
