I had a visitor this morning

Most mornings I will fix a cup of coffee and go on the front porch to enjoy my coffee. I had just sat down on my bench when I looked over at the steps and seen a cat. He climbed the stairs and came up to were I was and started meawing. He sat there and looked up at me for a little bit. This is what I thought was strange though, when I went to reach down to pet him, he shot away from me and ran back down the stairs. After a few mins. he came back up on the porch and went by me to the other end of the porch. He finally came back to were I was sitting and started going around my legs and then went and layed back down. I finished my coffee and went back inside for about an hour. When I came back out he was on the porch again, after I sat down he put his pows on the bench and started touching my coat. he then laid down at my feet and started touching my pants leg, but just as soon as I moved my leg, he shot away from me and was back down the stairs. That's the thing that was puzzling to me, he acted like he wanted to be near you, but he also acted like he was scared to death to be touched. He was a pretty cat though, he had a brown and grey color, with black strips and one long black strip that went down the middle of his head all the way to his tail. He was gone the last time I went out, so hopefully he made it back to were he came from.
