Been here 2 weeks, already got blocked twice lol

I don't know if it's a record time for Mylot, but it is for me. I did mention in my introduction that I'm not in my right mind, but also that I'm dealing with social anxiety, so I consider being blocked a blessing as now I have less people to interact with. But here's the second reason why it's a blessing: The first one who blocked me, it was so soon after I joined I haven't even engaged in a conversation with them yet. They blocked me simply because I responded to the person's post they blocked prior, simply stating "getting blocked is a blessing". I guess I got what I asked for. The second one... well, I thought this was a discussion site. And I thought that when someone posts their food diary in public, on a daily basis, and every single day they end it with the same question "how did you think I do? what do you think of my way of eating?" I'm not a native English speaker but I thought that meant you opened up a discussion and a chance for me to tell you, politely, what I truly think. Apparently, I need to take an English course. I gave them advice (fully supported by research and common sense) that would stabilise her blood sugars and even get her out of insulin injections and medications, as I had plenty of experience and knowledge on the matter (I took university courses on the matter and had a family history, as well as my own experience with curing prediabetes and insulin resistance). But my dear, here's the last advice from me: if you get offended by people politely answering your question and out of genuine concern try to help you, then don't ask the question. I'm not an enabler. I don't know how to lie just to make you feel better. I also don't know how to stay quiet when I see a serious health issue that can be and has been cured many many times simply by making better dietary choices. I know what suffering feels like and I know what premature death looks like. I watched several of my close family in great suffering and slow premature, horrific death (that could have easily been prevented) that I wouldn't wish to my worst enemy. I've struggled through excruciating chronic pain myself for years and a huge list of chronic diseases for 2 decades before I finally managed to treat them all, one by one (ADHD and memory loss from surgical menopause still remain, as well as my daughter's autism, but I'm constantly working on them too). That's the only reason I express my raw thoughts on health matters. So please, if any of you been feeling itchy about pressing the Block button, please do so now. Don't hesitate. Because I don't play around with matters of health. Have a great day.

@healerWitch At the time I threatened to block Sanjeev, he was making me mad. If he hadn't stopped, I would have carried out the threat, no matter how much I like him.

I'm glad you haven't had the "honour" of neither blocking or getting blocked. You must get along well with others. Surely he must have been joking.

I cannot blame you for feeling that way. I used to feel this way when being blocked. Now, I do not care at all. It's their loss.

Oh I don't feel bad at all. I just thought the reasons I was blocked were hilarious and childish. And thought I should give a warning to the rest that I'm not here to tell people what they want to hear, so if they can't handle my personal opinion or the truth, then they should go right ahead and block me now and save me some much precious time.

I'm sorry you've already been blocked by two people in your two weeks here. Welcome to myLot. I appreciate the feedback. I never block anyone. I'm one who posts my food diary every day. So, if you see something I should change, by all means, speak up. I appreciate it. Writing is my specialty. I'm an author. So, food and diets are still new to me. Even though I've been on a diet for almost six years now. I started with Whole30 and moved to Paleo. On the advice of my doctor this past week, I'm moving to the Mediterranean Diet. He told me to limit carbs and suggested that one. I'm not diabetic or even pre-diabetic, so I don't know the reason for limiting them. When I look at the Mediterranean Diet which is mostly fruits and vegetables, I wonder how it can be limiting when fruit has lots of carbs in them. I'm sorry you watched people die agonizing deaths. Asking a question at the end of a discussion opens it up for discussion interaction. It's how we earn money here. It can also help in making new friends. So, ask away. I will never block you.

@healerWitch No, she won't touch fruits or vegetables. It's not a healthy lifestyle. Since she's been on the insulin, it's been better. At least her numbers are better. Thanks, I'll have the book soon. I know I'll go through it as soon as it's in my hands.

Thank you. The person in question is diabetic with insulin injections and she was always wondering in her posts why the random spikes in her blood sugar, which is why I offered to advise her on the matter as her current diet will keep her insulin resistant (meaning the injections will do nothing for her at some point unless she improves her insulin sensitivity, which can be done through diet and intermittent fasting). Even though she's trying to do keto, her way of eating does not allow her to go in a state of ketosis (which can help with both the diabetes and her weight loss goals). Anyways my only intention was to help. Mediterranean diet is healthy but you're right, it's not low carb. If you're not diabetic you don't have to restrict your carbs. You can keep your macronutrients balanced. Did the doctor recommend you this diet for weight loss or as a treatment for a health condition (if you don't mind me asking)? You can do a modified Mediterranean diet that decreases your carbs if that improves a certain health condition. That's practically what I do as high dietary fat and protein diet helps with my ADHD and surgical menopause. But if there's no health condition involved, you can still enjoy healthy unprocessed carbs no problem. I only saw the one post I replied to, but you seem to be doing well. And thank you for the info. Even though I think I have added my payment info on my profile, the earnings are not my main goal, but I'll try to improve my future discussions with questions as well.

@just4him I'm sorry to hear about your health problems. With ulcerative colitis, focusing on reducing inflammatory foods (like processed sugar, additives, sweeteners, processed carbs and other processed foods) and increasing foods that are good for your gut health (legumes, vegetables, fruits, fermented dairy, some healthy fats) may help. Perhaps that's the reason he recommended the Mediterranean diet, and for lowering carb intake, maybe he meant processed carbs like pasta, bread etc. Ketoacidosis is different than just being on ketosis and yes it is life threatening. I didn't know she went through that. That usually happens with people with type 1 diabetes where sugar levels stay high for far too long. That explains why she's on insulin. In this case, just keeping her low carbs down is not enough, she has to control her blood sugar levels and get rid of insulin resistance with natural foods, like vegetables and legumes (which she specifically stated she won't touch), a lot of exercise with increase in muscle mass (it helps metabolise sugars in the body) and going on a gentle intermittent fasting. She needs a nutritionist with access to all her history, rather then her experimenting on her own with garbage like caramel bars and twix cups that keep sugar levels and insulin resistance just as high. But like you and other members have told me, she's not one to listen. It's a shame, she's far too young to go through something like that. I hope the Mediterranean cook book arrives soon and helps you with your goals, and I wish you all the success and best of health.

I know exactly what you mean. Most people don’t like to be contradicted even when they’re in the wrong. Don’t worry about being blocked. There’s still oodles of other members here.

When there is no respond button under a discussion or when you visit a profile and there are no follow/message/block buttons visible. Also if there is a response on your own discussion you cannot read it is because that user blocked you.

I realised it when I couldn't respond to a discussion, as @GoAskAlice said, and asked someone about it. I wish their discussions were also hidden, as I sometimes forget that they blocked me and end up going to their discussions, only to realise I can't respond.

Some people, and I won't name any names, post not to open a discussion. Not to engage any real thought. Not to open a dialogue and exchange ideas that we can all benefit from. Some people simply post looking for affirmation, or worse, confirmation that they are right. There is one person here who constantly writes incendiary political posts, and when you respond, will simply tell you they don't want to engage in an argument, which ABSOLUTELY begs YOUR question... Why, then, did you post it? As for blocking? MANY people have blocked me and frankly I don't give a damn. Of the ones who did block me, trust me, they aren't worth keeping around anyway. So to them I say good riddance. Enjoy your one size fits all shallow existence. I frankly don't care. lol

I love your response! Me and my husband are the exact opposites with entirely different mindsets so when we discuss any subject, however serious, we speak our minds freely no matter how much we disagree with each other and without becoming a cause for a fight. I guess since I speak to him the most, I got used to that. (Thank heavens that I got a husband who doesn't increase my social anxiety lol.) And it puzzles me here since I was told that the people who are here to earn, they earn through other people's interaction on their posts. So it would make sense to post something that opens up a discussion. Just saying "I agree with you" doesn't contribute much to continue the conversation, does it? While pouring my mind and heart out to you with what I really think (whether I agree with you or not), we may be able to talk and expand further on it, without worrying who's right and who's wrong. "One size fits all shallow existence". I very much love that accurate description.
