Another sad loss in the world of our sweet pets. Although Gray-Gray was not my pet, I am so saddened.
He belonged to our younger son’s girlfriend’s mother. He was a feral cat that strutted his stuff. He was an outdoor cat loved by everyone in the neighborhood. He came home only to eat and sleep. My son taught him how to play with toys.
When she returned home from a flight, she let him outdoors. Within minutes, Gray-Gray returned home yowling and paralyzed from the waste down.
The vet had to euthanize him immediately. Apparently, he had an illness no one suspected.
The family is in a state of shock.
He reminded us of Doodles. We are so sad for yet another pet loss.

That is so sad. I am glad he came home so that they know what happened. The not knowing is worse

So sad to hear this. We have a grey one we call Silver who is getting along in years. I worry we will wake up one day and he will be gone.
Sorry for your pet loss.

@DianneN Yes. It was horrible. He was obviously in extreme pain and, being feral, he was absolutely petrified to be outside of his safe zone (bedroom) in the car and in the vet's office. The vet said that we could try blood thinners but there was a very high chance of it happening again. I couldn't bear to see him so scared and upset so I chose euthanasia. At least he had 6 safe years living with us and not in a woodpile

I had this happen with a dog, his name was Micah. He screamed in pain, yet he was paralyzed from the waist down. I had him euthanized, also. This is terrible to hear, that Gray-Gray had to be put to sleep! He will be greatly missed

@DianneN He suffered terribly, I believe it was kidney failure.

Oh no! That is so sad. Who knows what happened to him really? That is why I don't let Nico outdoors. Too many dangers out there. They can get poisoned among many other things.

That’s two in a week you’ve lost! I know you’re heartbroken so badly.
Oh, I wish there was something I could say or do to comfort you. Losing a pet hurts so, so badly. And to lose one totally unexpected is awful.

Oh no, not another beloved pet loss! I'm shocked. When you said he came back paralyzed from the waste down, I immediately thought he must have been bit by a venomous snake.
So sorry for the loss. From the photo he looked like a very loving cat.

Sorry about that. It's really a shock. But glad that she came home and was put to sleep peacefully without much suffering.
I couldn't help but notice that beautiful artwork in the background.

It seems that these cats have to have constant attention because they don't have a good memory, but don't be discouraged, maybe it can appear, in one occasion I lost a pet, a dog, and it was a week later that I managed to recover it, since it appeared one Saturday in the house, as if nothing happened.

@DianneN I am very sorry, perhaps my English made me interpret in another way, I understand what it feels like, we have all lost one or another pet and the truth is that it feels as if it were one of our close relatives, on one occasion I had an experience of a friend who had to euthanize his dog, because she was already very old and it was difficult for him even to see, and I accompanied him to the clinic and it was very painful, I accompany you in the feelings, I love pets
