Eggplants + Fish Sauce = "Eggplants Dinengdeng"

Today, I was supposed to buy raw goods in the public market. I changed my heart to do it because of feeling sluggish today. So, I took the chance of buying some eggplants in the nearest small market and cooked the local dish called 'Eggplants Dinengdeng' for lunch today. It is my first time and simple to make it and the family members enjoyed having it in their digestive systems. My mom used to say,' It needs to eat whatever is served on the table.' Any pearls of wisdom from the elders in your family?

yes elders are always smarter, because of experience in life that youth has not yet had to learn.

@Shavkat yes exactly. I wish all young folks thought like that.

It is worth the time to be with them. All the pearls of wisdom through the years of existence can be passed on.

I wish I could share it with you. If I am living at your place, I can make the tiny shrimps into a fish sauce to be used for these sliced eggplants. It is just an idea.

Food is God so whatever comes infront of us, we must respect and eat the same with regards. Eggplants, we called it as brinjal not a favourite dish for my children. But I used to add it in Sambar.

Some kiddies here do not like it, too. The majority would hate bitter gourd. "Any foods in the world are food for the souls."

Yes, I learnt a lot for my grandmother. My Mother always told us that we had to eat what was served, if we did not, we would have come back when hungry. I love eggplants but prepared differently.

My deceased mom is the one who is in-charge in cooking at home. No one can use the kitchen without her supervision. Now, I am in charge and trying to learn how to cook decent meals.

@LadyDuck It is my biggest regret that I did not ask my mom to teach me cooking.

@Shavkat - My mother let me cook and she was very happy if I did, she did not enjoy cooking.

I'm supposed to go to the market today, but I'm lazy today. Maybe I'll leave tomorrow.
