Met Another New Neighbor Today

Took a walk earlier around the neighborhood. Two streets over a family just moved in. The wife was out walking their Great Dane.
Those dogs are huge. About as tall as I am. But at least they have a nice yard for him. And they walk him every day.
The lady said they moved here from California. They could not handle all of the crazy politics going on there, especially with the governor.
I told her I hope they can be happy here. Much quieter and less drama for sure.
Photo is mine. Honeysuckle from last year's garden.

Over the past several years, many people have moved to this area from California. They have the same reason as your new neighbor. The lunacy in California. I hope that they won't bring any of that lunacy with them.
I hope the new neighbor settles in and will be a new friend to you for many years to come.
I need to get some Honeysuckle for my yard.

I just looked and a species of honeysuckle is native here too. I have never seen it but will start looking. I can get cuttings for my yard too.
The odd thing about people from California moving here is they have raised property values quite a bit. Good if you're selling but not so good if you are buying or staying to retire here.
In 1989, I purchased a 3br for 54,500. It was assessed at 270k this past year. Property taxes have easily tripled in that time.
5 years ago, my house was assessed at 159k.
Property values are higher in California and by buying here, it has inflated values of homes over the past several years.

@Vikingswest1 You are right, a seller's market for sure. And I don't see this trend slowing any time soon.

We live in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood, also. My daughter's Great Dane is considered a small one, at 90 pounds. Your photo is beautiful:)

@CarolDM Everyone says Milah is a huge breed, but she's actually a smaller version.

@CarolDM Finally the rain stopped. It’s still overcast but I got to the gym this morning and had a good workout. I’m picking up speed on the stationary bike and making more repetitions in weight lifting. Maybe I needed a couple of days off.

That's good to have a new nice neighbor. I can understand her wanting to get out of California.
