Mundane -- that's the word l am looking for. Mundane, meaning - bland, uninteresting etc.
Could those words describe many of the discussions posted here each day.? What do Mylot members want or prefer to see posted? Are you happy with the current offerings of : Food - ( now that is a popular one ) - weather, pets, relationships, sports, politics- Short posts, Long posts? And which topics are considered taboo?
If we know the preferred topics then we should see posts each receiving at least 15 to 50 responses . Wouldn't that be nice?

The only one I don't like is politics. There are some personal ones I don't like. My son calls me a prude when certain body parts are mentioned. I find food interesting because it lets me know the cultural differences and some look downright delicious. Others I wouldn't go near. Octopus for example will never find its way onto my plate. Squid either or chicken feet. Not that I can eat chicken, I can't. I don't mind long posts. I do mind short ones, especially the one-sentence ones. There's nothing to them and it's almost impossible to comment on them.

Politics seem to be definitely a no no here. I also do not think body parts should be mentioned . About food- l agree, we get a taste of international cuisine since our members are from all over the world.
Chicken feet soup is a popular dish which l have never touched. I cannot bear the thought of consuming chicken feet.

I see there is a Top Rated Discussion section. I'm not sure if it's with the number of likes or responses a post gets, but most of them from that section can still be considered bland and uninteresting to me as you well put it.
What's interesting to me may not be the rest of the Mylotters' cup of tea and vice versa. And it depends on the mood of any given day: a chaotic day might call for an easy weather / food post. A boring weekend may call for a philosophical discussion of never-ending back-and-forth. Politics and religions are always an absolute no-no for me.
Lastly, I still rather pick a post to respond to than create one myself.

Well l am happy that you responded to this one. You are right ,the mood one is in can determine what one feels like reading. That is why variety is important - and choice. You don't fancy one post you skip to another .Another person may like the one you skipped.

I like posts that talk about every day stuff and I don't participate in the ones discussing politics or religion.

I think like others have said, it just depends what type of mood I'm in and if the title catches my eye. I also try to stay away from discussions about politics, I think all they do is cause friction. I do like to read somethings from members from other countries, I think it's very interesting myself. I don't want a discussion so long that it's about like reading a book report, but I also don't want to read one that is so short and has no point to it or doesn't make sense. I do say if a person is going to write about something, give enough detail were readers know what your talking about.

I can handle what is posted here now as it is.
The reason why I am saying this though, is because honestly, it seems I am unable to concentrate on deeper subjects at this time.
Usually though, I like the thought provoking.

Your posts are very enlightening. I think l must have written about ten or less food posts over the years. I like food but for a number of years now l have put myself on a very restrictive diet - no candy, sweet pastries, soft drinks, processed foods, meats - l am semi- vegetarian - so food posts written by me would be pretty boring.

That would be nice if we would know what posts draw people in and what do not or why some go through and others do not. It sounds like you do not like the posts you mentioned above so what posts or discussions would you like to see here? I like to write about things I know and feel comfortable sharing so sorry if you do not like some of my posts.

I didn't say l did not like them, but some of them could be presented in a more interesting way. People write about what they can, what they are feeling at the moment. Members who live in cold countries will write about the cold and snow , since it affects their daily lives. I live in the Caribbean and l remember during the long hot summer l would write posts about the heat.
Food posts are very popular everywhere l suppose because the thought of food and drink makes most people happy - and it sustains life. I like food, but l try not to focus too much on it because too much of the wrong foods could be detrimental to one's health.
In conclusion, most of the posts that l happen to see daily on mylot during the hours that l am here, l have a read and respond if l can. I might have missed some of yours because of our different time zones.

I do post a lot of about food, many seem interested. Also nature, I enjoy photography. And the weather. Maybe it is mundane to some, but it is about all I have to offer most of the time. Oh, and my cats as well. I try to stay away from religion and politics. And negative posts, name calling, etc.

I like debate. I like conversations on subjects too. A simple topic title about food with a quick description of what the meal was doesn't interest me nearly as much as a detailed description with comments on specific ingredients and how they were used.
I guess I'm more likely to respond on any subject here if the author puts thought and effort into the post.
Of course if I have a different opinion or I can personally relate, I'm drawn to those discussions too.
On a side note, if everyone responded to every discussion in a way it wouldn't be deleted, we would ALL hit minimum payout in two weeks.

I enjoy posts on people's everyday lives, their families, food/drinks, hobbies, and whatnot. I'm not into political posts though I don't avoid them, I may read them I may comment on them or I may go past them, depending on how much time I have to spend here.
Religion doesn't bother me as I have written about my faith in Jesus Christ. It helps me to understand sometimes where someone is coming from when they talk about what they believe in. Like politics, it depends on how much time I have if I read/comment on such a post or not
The size of the post I haven't thought about. I suppose it depends on how well written it is if I can understand it if it is a shorter post.

Most of my posts on food gets the most responses and on scams. and I like seeing my posts on the interesting discussions page. These are ordinary people writing posts. And so many posts will be ordinary. Now for 10.00 a post they may be a little more interesting!

Many posts on My Lot deal with the day-to-day activities of the members posting them. Such as what they had for breakfast, where they went shopping or what transpired during their day. Then you have those who post about politics a divisive topic and religion a way for them to spread the word to others. I do agree some topics are mundane, but each person decides what they are comfortable writing about and how they want to connect on My Lot with others. Like many things in life, it's a personal choice and as readers we get to decide what piques our interest or not.
