The covid cases in New Zealand (especially in Auckland) has gone up by leaps and I'm worried for my daughter who works as a nurse at the ED of the hospital.
The case the other day was over 2,000 and yesterday it was over 3,000. Today, the community cases went up to 6,137. Ambulance service of St. John's Ambulance Service has been overwhelmed because many of its staff tested positive so some emergency cases have to wait as much as an hour. Hospitals are understaffed too because of resignations and health workers being positive of the virus.
It's unfortunate that the protests by some against restrictions are adding headache to the government's response to covid.

@sunrisefan Of course those that have other serious ailments are still in danger of getting it. The unvaccinated as well is at risk of getting worst of the virus too since their body is not yet exposed to the virus as well.

It may be mild generally but there are people who do not have that strong body resistance to it.

The numbers in our state are likely to go up in a similar way. We do have a high percentage vaccinated but even so, there are still plenty who aren't.

@sunrisefan I really feel for the health workers. So many are getting burnt out from their workload. I do hope your daughter stays well.

Health workers (including my daughter) are already overworked, tired and weary and constantly fear for the vulnerable in their families like my daughter who has a little boy.

@sunrisefan Hey! I haven't spoken to you in awhile. How are you?
It truly is really scary. The whole situation feels hopeless right now in certain places.
I hope otherwise, you're doing alright. And same with your daughter.
