A female dog named Zoey who went missing 12 years ago in California after she was adopted by her owner named Michelle who did not give out her last name was reunited recently in the same state after the dog was seen in a rural property outside of Stockton two weeks ago by police officers of the San Joaquin Sheriff's Office after they answered a call about a missing dog. After the depuities took Zoey to an animal hospital to be examined, they found that Zoey had a microchip in her which led them to find Michelle who lives 20 miles away from San Joaquin County where the dog was located by the police and examined by the veterinarian. Even though Zoey is considered old for a dog, Michelle is happy that she did reunite with Zoey who was adopted as a puppy as the age of six months before she vanished from her owner's home in a city in California even though where Michelle lived at the time was not mentioned. Michelle promises to spend the rest of Zoey's days taking care of her and Zoey's twin sister who was also adopted as the same animal shelter 12 years ago. What is that old saying "Better late than never."? It applies here to Michelle meeting her long lost pet thanks to San Joaquin Animal Services Officer Brandon Levin having the pleasure to reunite Zoey with her owner after 12 long years apart.

I read about it, it seems the dog was abandoned because she is old. I am glad now she is with someone who cares about her.

I agree with you since it appears that the previous owner of Zoey decided to let go of her due to her ill health condition.

@nela13 I agree with you that the dog lost 12 years of her life away from her original owner which is sad to know.

Zoey is very old, many dogs only live 12 years or so depending on their size and health.

I have had large dogs all my adult life and most of them lived beyond 12 years but at that age most only wanted a comfortable bed to sleep in most of the day or night and good food to eat.

@rebelann That is true especially my last pet who passed away two years ago of old age.

It makes me happy that they were reunited, but also sad. I know it doesn't say but, the reason it's kind of sad to me is, Zoey may have been with the other person since she was a puppy and now after 12 years she has to go to someone else.

You are right that Zoey was raised by another owner for a long time before she reunited with her former owner after 12 years apart.

@Deepizzaguy I read some of the other comments ans seen where Zoey was abandoned by the other person, I'm glad that she reunited with her first owner now. It's sad that the person abandoned her because she was old, hopefully she'll live out her remaining years happy, now that she is back with the person that loved her in the very beginning.

That's a very long time for a dog to be missing.

It's so sad that it took 12 years for them to be reunited. I hope Zoey lives a long life.

I am glad that Zoey is back home but I will never understand why and where these dogs wander off to,

That is a good question why dogs run away from home if they are being mistreated by their owners.
