It's pancake day today, so we had pancakes for lunch instead of the usual soup.
My Mum and step-dad had traditional pancakes, although they were ready made and done in the microwave.
I made okonomiyaki, which is Savoury Japanese Pancakes. I made batter and put it in the fridge for half an hour while I cut up some cabbage and spring onions and warmed some sauce.
When the batter came out of the fridge, I added the cabbage and spring onions and mixed them in nice and good. Then I fried batches of the mixture to make pancakes. Putting the batter in the fridge for half an hour helps the ingredients to stick together when you're frying them.
I drizzled a bit of the sauce on them when they were on the plate.
And here in the picture is how they came out. I had enough mixture to make five, and they were yummy!

I just eat them on their own with a bit of sauce on top.

@sharonelton I’ve only eaten plain pancakes with syrup and butter.

@RubyHawk I used to do that before I went on the macrobiotic diet. But then when I did I found this recipe for okonomiyaki and I've never looked back. They are amazing!

It tasted lovely, with the batter and cabbage. It tasted like a savoury pancake with cabbage. It was really nice anyway.

@Faster16 Hey! I made that shape in the frying pan! I'm sorry I couldn't make it into a better shape for you! I was trying to get it looking roundish but if it don't wanna go roundish it don't wanna go roundish!

Thank you very much. They were very tasty. Have you ever tried pancakes like these before, or do you just have traditional pancakes?

@sharonelton you’re a vegan. That explains why you didn’t have meat in your okonomiyaki

It would have to be vegan mayonnaise. I have a recipe for tofu mayonnaise but I don't have a blender!

@sol_cee I'm not exactly vegan. I'm macrobiotic. But people don't usually have meat in their pancakes anyway, do they? Okonomiyaki is not something that you would have meat in

I want pancakes but I'm living on my own so I settle for just buying in McDonald's

I used to go to McDonald's now and then but now that I'm on the macrobiotic diet I don't do that any more.
