Yesterday Was Busy!

I wasn't on myLot during the day yesterday because I stayed busy! I was outside for a good bit enjoying the sunshine, doing chicken chores, and a bit of yard work. Before I knew it and looked at the time it was already 2 pm.
I headed inside and changed clothes so I could go to McComb and pick up our grocery order. My husband said that he just got a text that said part of the order was ready for pickup. Excuse me? Only part? Well my pickup time was scheduled for 3 pm so I didn't worry about it.
In the meantime, I told him that he should ride with me. The reason for that is I did not see the section to add an alternate person to pick up the order. And the order was in his name. He wasn't doing anything but relaxing so he rode along with me.
We were lucky to get the last designated parking space for grocery pick up. And at least half of the people were actually there for grocery pick up and sitting in their vehicles to wait vs. an empty vehicle parked wrong. I told my hubby that we would be waiting for awhile since we were the last to pull up.
We had been waiting about 10 minutes when the man in the car next to us got out of his vehicle to stretch. As he walked around his car, I asked him how long he had been waiting. He said about 20 minutes. I commented that there had been no groceries coming out in the last 15 minutes and I assumed we would be waiting for awhile.
I made a phone call after that to the attorney's office that I was waiting on a return phone call from since Monday. It was at that time our order arrived and the employee started putting the order in the back of my van. Our neighbor in the next car over got out to complain to the employee and then got back in his car.
This store really needs better management and more organization! I felt bad for the others, but I have also been in their place before when picking up groceries.
Do you use grocery pickup? Does the pickup go smoothly or do you have to wait a long time?

I have not used a grocery pickup service yet. Sorry to learn that you are having problems with the grocery pickup at the grocery store.

@Deepizzaguy At least we have a Piggly Wiggley in our little town now so I can run there for a few things. Prices are higher than Walmart though so I try to get essentials from Wally World.

@JudyEv Yes, and saves you the time of shopping if you don't have to wait long for them to put the groceries in your car. Thankfully, I have only had to wait long periods a couple of times. It is a lot of work now here as we have to check ourselves out at checkout. That is a lot of activity: put groceries in cart while shopping, empty cart at checkout, check yourself out, bag groceries and put back in cart, get groceries out of cart and into your car. Go home and unload the groceries, then put up all groceries. I bet all that burns a good many calories!

We do our shopping in-person. If you can take the time to drive, park, and wait, you can go inside and get it done in the same ammount of time or less. At least that's how I see it.

I have only had to wait the longer times twice so not bad. And no, with a 30 minute drive one way, hour of shopping and 30 minutes back and then have to unload the groceries again after having to load them to checkout, check yourself out, reload back into the buggy and then load into your car to unload them again at home and carry them all inside, unpack and put them all away. Nope, I can't do that in the normal time of 1 hour and 10-15 minutes that it normally takes. To me that is a waste of time and effort and I can't handle it with the pain it also causes. So all in all would never be worth it to me to go back to old way.

You can't do grocery pickup unless you have a smartphone; and we don't have one.

@LindaOHio Nope, I order online on my laptop and then call the phone number posted on the sign in parking for my pickup. I do not use the app at all.

I often use the pick up feature at Walmart and so far it's worked really well. For some reason the employees who bring my groceries out are much nicer than the ones who work in the store!
