Shopping and repeat prescription

I went shopping on my own again today. I set out at about 11:00am because I didn't want to be too early because I was going to collect my repeat prescription aswell and I didn't need to be there until 2.30pm.
First thing I did when I got into town was I went to the toilet opposite the cathedral. I went into the disabled toilet because it has more room and I had the trolley with me.
Then I went and posted a birthday card that my Mum had given me to post.
Then I went to Holland and Barrett for some Kambucha.
Then I went and sat on a bench and ate my sandwich and drank some of the Kambucha.
Then I went to The Works to get a notebook. There were a few notebooks that weren't really my style or what I was looking for, but then I noticed some with animal print patterns on them. There was a pack of 2 for £5, one with something that looked like zebra print and one that looked like tiger print, so I got them, and then I spotted a pretty purple spiral bound notebook for £1.50, so I got that aswell. I also got a pack of 6 small canvases for £2. Total £8.50. So that gave me 42.5p worth of points on my loyalty card that I got last week!
Then I went to Rileys. I got 2 lots of strawberries, some black grapes, half a cucumber, some tomatoes, a little gem lettuce, some liquorice allsorts, some wine gums and some sour cream and chive savouries.
I didn't need to go and get my repeat prescription until around 2.30pm, and it was only nearly 12.10pm so I had a lot of time to fill. With this in mind I went to the Oxfam bookshop. I was looking at the fiction section looking for some Science Fiction. I wondered if there was a dedicated Science Fiction section round the corner, and low and behold, when I looked round there, there was the Science Fiction section! There were quite a few books in the Science Fiction section but as I perused them I noticed that there was more sword and sorcery fantasy types than actual aliens are among us type of book which was really what I was looking for. Eventually I managed to find a book by Isaac Asimov. (That is the correct spelling, I spelt it Isamov in a previous post). It is called Robot and Empire. It was £3.99 so I bought that.
Then I went to 24 Market Street (which is a pub) and got myself a cappuccino with soy milk. The lady serving me told me it was £2.20 so I was fumbling about in my purse and I said "I can't see!" because my glasses were steaming up because of my mask! The lady said, oh, it's voluntary in here, you don't have to wear the mask if you don't want to! So I said, Oh, thank you, and I took it off! I paid the lady and told her I was at table 6. My cappuccino didn't take long to come and it was delicious. I tried to take my time drinking it so that I could waste some more time!
After I came out of the pub I went to the Oxfam shop. I was looking for a dress or something in a size 12. There were a lot of tops and skirts and trousers and some dresses in a size 12 but most of them were not my colour! Eventually I spotted a nice leopard skin fake fur jacket in a size 12, and a peach coloured top that might actually be a mini dress also in a size 12. The jacket was £10.99 and the top/mini dress was £1.99 so I got them both. I was served by a woman who looked so miserable she looked like a squeezed lemon! I thought smile why don't you!
Then I went to Iceland. I did get my vegan sausage rolls, and 2 pizza style garlic breads. This means I won't have to come next week!
Then I went to the toilet opposite the cathedral again.
Then I went to collect my repeat prescription. When I got to the pharmacy there was a notice on the board outside saying "Due to unforseen circumstances we will not be able to dispense prescriptions until after 2.pm". Well, it was 2.28pm by then so I thought I'd be alright. I was about 5th in the queue. So I waited. And waited. And waited. It wasn't until nearly 2.45pm before the person in the front of the queue went into the pharmacy! Someone came out and said there was a backlog of prescriptions from this morning and they were trying to dispense them first that's why there was a delay. We waited some more. Some of the people in the queue got fed up of waiting and went! Eventually, at approx 3.00pm I reached the front of the queue and went into the pharmacy! There I waited for another 10 minutes before someone even came to serve me! And then when I flashed my medical exemption certificate at her and she went off to put my prescription together, I waited another 10 minutes before I actually got it! The guy in the next booth to me was definitely not impressed with the service. He had come for both his and his wife's medication. He had ordered them both at the same time 5 days ago by phone. He was told that his wife's medication had come in, but his hadn't. He was not pleased! But why has my wife's come and not mine? I ordered them both at the same time 5 days ago and you're saying my wife's has arrived and mine hasn't? He was told to phone up and asks them to send his prescription to the pharmacy. I've been waiting an hour out there for you to tell me that mine hasn't come in yet?! A couple of other people who had come in to the small corridor were saying how disorganised the pharmacy was and that it was a disgrace! "You used to be able to come in and they'd give you your prescription straight away", said one of them, "it hasn't been the same since this new lot took over!" Eventually I got my prescription and left. It had taken me a total of 50 minutes to get my prescription from the time I arrived!
After that I went to the toilet opposite the cathedral yet again! I was bursting after all that waiting at the pharmacy and I couldn't have lasted til I got home!
Then I made my way home.
When I got home I found out that my Step-Dad had attempted to go and get his repeat prescription aswell, and he had been waiting in the queue a long way behind me, but he had gotten fed up of waiting and went home!

@sharonelton I would have slept way late the next day too! I hope you didn't have much to do but rest the following day!

@kareng No, I didn't have much to do but rest the following day, thank goodness. I usually have a lie in on a Saturday anyway.

Wow! You did a lot on your shopping trip!
That's one of the "Foundation" series books by Asimov. That series is really good. I enjoyed it.
I much prefer our way of getting a prescription refilled to your way!

@sharonelton You're welcome.
Hmm... I think, as long as you like science fiction, you'll do well with Asimov's books. The main premise is that the Galactic Empire is in it's declining years so they create two "archives" at opposite ends of the civilization to keep their science and technology alive and shorten the time between the fall of the old Empire and the rise of the new one. (A mathematician predicts that without these repositories there would be 30,000 years of barbarism between Empires. With the repositories the time between the two Galactic Empires would be shortened to 1,000 years.)
In a larger city than mine, prescriptions can be delivered. My city is too small for that to be an option.

@DaddyEvil Sounds interesting. How many books are in the Foundation serirs?
I understand your city is too small to get prescriptions delivered.

Thank you very much. Yes, I did do rather a lot of shopping.
I have another of Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" series books too. Haven't read it yet. What are they like? Not too many spoilers though, please!
I'm sure you do prefer your way of getting a prescription filled than our way! I'm seriously considering getting them delivered. But then what happens if the delivery doesn't turn up?

@sharonelton I quite like 'making it up as I go along'. I buy lots of nice things if I do that!

Well, the things for Mum from Rileys and Iceland were written down, but I knew what I wanted from Holland and Barrett, and I knew I wanted a small notebook from The Works, and the rest was just made up as I went along!

@sharonelton Yes, indeed if the taste of the dish is very good, then we often repeat the recipe. Because it's delicious.

Yes, I like shopping. I like it best when I'm on my own because then I can go as fast or slow as I want to.

@Mari_22 Exactly! I can do what I want, when I want and noone to tell me to hurry up, or I don't have to tell anyone else to hurry up!

It was rather stressful waiting for the prescription and my feet really started to ache. I felt sorry for the guy who got his wife's prescription but couldn't get his own.

Wow! And I thought it was an inconvenience when we have to wait 2 days instead of 1 for our prescriptions here in the US. I'm glad you finally got yours. Sounds like you had a busy day.

@sharonelton We have a dozen pharmacies around that dispense prescriptions in our area. Do you have a limited number of pharmacies?

@LindaOHio I like getting my prescriptions from the pharmacy that is attatched to the Doctors. My Mum has opted to get hers from Boots.
