My BP is Running Low Again...

Pretty and I just got back from shopping, carrying in the groceries and putting them away. I got dizzy so took my blood pressure. It's 92/76. She wants me to go to the hospital.
Normally, my blood pressure runs at 121/72. My doctor is really happy with that.
I'm not going to the hospital. The people at the local hospital are quacks! And I don't feel like driving to the good hospital. I'm just going to lie on my bed for a while.
Image is not mine. But that looks just like my home machine.

@DaddyEvil hope so, have a cup of coffee and eat normal salt that will increase BP. Good that you didn't get injured after you fell.

@sjvg1976 My doctor wants my blood pressure to stay down. After I rested on my bed for 45 minutes my blood pressure is better now at 109/70, which is still on the low side but better than it was.

I see my doctor once a month. Pretty is just worried because I fell down. I usually catch a wall or door when I feel dizzy but was in the middle of the room this time. I'm sure I'm okay. I have a doctor appointment at the end of the month.

@DaddyEvil it’s always been real low. I used to faint a lot but rarely anymore. Mine used to be so low doctors would ask if I was okay and I’d say yeah I’m fine why and they’d say because at this low people are usually fainting. My grandmother had very low blood pressure as well. My father and sister have high blood pressure so I’ll just be glad I don’t have to take medicine to control my blood pressure like they do.

@DaddyEvil my dad had strokes so his blood pressure is something to be concerned about. Amazing your dad lived until 70 and never even took medicine for it. What did he die from?

@shaggin Mom had low blood pressure and dad had high blood pressure. Dad always refused to take meds for it and he lived to be 70 years old.

Maybe you need to drop that diuretic.

My doctor cut the dose in half... We'll see what she says when we see her at the end of the month. It was low again when I took it half an hour ago. 94/60. I'm dizzy again.

You're mean.
I asked Pretty if she was sure she wanted me to drive to the hospital when I felt faint. She decided I was right to wait at home. Crashing the car could have been bad for both of us.

@vandana7 Yes, we could but won't. We have a car. Why ask someone else to drive us anywhere?

@DaddyEvil My husband has often a very low BP, his doctor told him to keep at home real licorice and chew a small piece if he feels dizzy and the BP is too low. I bought the licorice sticks, as the candies are all fake licorice.

@LadyDuck Hmm... Pretty gave me a little salt a few days ago when I was dizzy. The doctor said that was fine. It worked okay. A few days ago when I had a problem I ate a piece of ham. It's salty and worked, too.

I took it again about half an hour ago and it was low again. 94/63. I've fixed myself a sandwich and gotten a glass of water to go with it. Hopefully, that will help.

@DaddyEvil — I think it’s time to get a new doctor. I had a quack, I mean doctor, tell me my back hurt because “you lost your butt” (meaning I’d lost weight). No, my back hurt because of sponylolisthesis, and if he’d taken an x-ray he would’ve KNOWN that.
Anyway, stay healthy.

@FourWalls We switched to this doctor three years ago because our last one was a quack. This doctor says I'm a nightmare patient but she's trying to get things right. The last doctor didn't even try.
I hope you're doing better now.

Thank you. I KNOW! My doctor keeps telling me we have to get my blood pressure lower but then it dips and she tells me I don't feel good when it does that because my body isn't used to "normal" blood pressure. *sigh*

@1creekgirl Yeah, the doctor told me I might get dizzy if my bp drops too low because my body isn't used to that. I've fallen down a couple of times lately. We have another appointment with her at the end of the month.

@DaddyEvil Low BP is better than high BP, but it can make you very faint so be careful when you get up.

After lying on my bed for 45 minutes, my blood pressure started coming up where the doctor wants it.
You'd rather I tried to drive to the good hospital and pass out along the drive?

@sol_cee We don't know. The doctor started me on diuretics a few weeks ago and that's when my blood pressure dropped the first time, so she cut the dose in half. Everything has been fine with the half dose until tonight.

A little rest should help. I have a tendency to have low BP when anything goes wrong with my body..be it any sickness, spike in my sugar or my monthly cycle. Even my regular BP is 111/73.( That's the max)
A glass of water with a bit of salt and sugar together helps instantly. That's the suggestion by my doctor for home remedy.

@DaddyEvil Oh! I see. Then you should not go for anything like that. Deep breathing for some time keeps BP in control. It's supposed to be effective for both low and high BP.
My husband has a tendency of high BP while I am on lower side. My husband has to be very careful about his salt intake.

Thank you.
I have to take blood pressure meds twice a day to keep it down where the doctor wants it. She just started me on diuretic pills to see if that would help hold it down. This is the second time my blood pressure has dropped like that.

@DaddyEvil I have suspected that those meds are what causes it to go down too much. I stopped my meds and it's much better now.

Mine normally runs way high so I have to take meds to bring it down. My doctor says my body doesn't know how to handle it when my blood pressure goes below the normal range. When something causes it to drop, I have problems.

@JudyEv Mine had been holding pretty steady but the doctor thought it was still a little too high, so she added a diuretic a little over a month ago. It dropped too low and she cut the diuretic dose in half once. I'm not sure what she's going to do now.

My bp came up after I'd been lying in bed for 45 minutes last night but still not as high as the doctor wanted it. I took it again about half an hour ago and it was low again. I have an appointment at the end of the month. We'll talk with the doctor then.

Oh, my. I have low BP all the time. Normal for me is about 95/68. So when it goes lower, I get a bit woozy like you. Sometimes I eat some salted nuts and it goes back up, but you are right to lie on your bed and rest a bit. Take care of yourself, please!
