Honestly, would you want these?

I thought it was kind of funny when I was reading my Nextdoor yesterday...it is like a digital newsletter that goes out to local communities. Someone posted a free washer and dryer. Well it turns out they were both about 15 or 20 years old! That is about the lifepan of both of them. Why would someone go to all the trouble of picking up an ancient washer and dryer, installing them..and have them break probably within a few months?. I thought that was pretty silly actually. I could see if they were 10 years old maybe, it might be worth it, but not ones that old. I would be very surprised if they had any takers. They probably wanted someone to pick them up so they didn't have a haul away fee or something from having new ones delivered. It takes all kinds.

Not worth the trouble..you would have to be a technician, and they could probably find parts they needed online. Besides with old machines like that the parts would probably be quite worn.

@LadyDuck 45 years old? Well, you know they don't make things like they used to.

@snowy22315 Most of the time they cannot find parts of old stuff. Mom had a washing machine that was 45 years old, still working, but no one needed it in our family.

That kind of freebie is more trouble than it is worth. Actually, roomie's brother and his friend picked up a low cost washer and dryer on Craigslist and his brother tore his rotator cuff and had to have two surgeries..Penny wise and pound foolish!

@snowy22315 Bless his heart. I had that shoulder surgery and it takes a full year to recover.

Maybe, but again not worth the trouble IMHO. I would just go to a laundrymat, in fact that is what I did when my washer was on the fritz. There aren't too many people around here that would be in that kind of need..a few possibly but they probably aren't regularly online.

You're probably right, it was just free labor to haul them off.

I never thought of that. They would be good for something like that I suppose or like a vacation home maybe.

Don't forget they are huge, it would take a lot of effort to move them.
