Writing

I have had a rather strange experience in the writing field. I enjoy writing and finding exactly the right word for a given subject I am trying to describe. I enjoy developing an entire world and the people in it. I have read many books, taken a course, etc. but never got into it seriously.
I was a member of a science fiction writer's club and did reviews for them, also critiqued their work. (Was told by several that when they got a professional critique they were told pretty much the same thing. That made me feel very good.) I was asked by my employer to write an article for their newsletter on a certain subject. I did that, got some praise, and forgot all about it until recently. (Wish I had a copy of it.) I wrote many articles for a blog site on all kinds of subjects from technology to crafting for a couple of years. It was such fun doing the research on horses, alpacas, renovation, pregnancy, crafts, vegan recipes, college life, COPD, and several technological subjects too. I made some good money on there until they changed the format and I lost interest.
I have been writing fiction since I was about fifteen years old. Some short stories and one that I have been working on the longest. It seems to be going in the Youth Fantasy direction at this point and would probably be a trilogy. I have been doing characterizations(only been about 55 years)and all myriad of research on it for ages now. It could be a really good story I think if I could just concentrate on it long enough. My life has gone in so many directions and my mental health has not been such that I could really be serious about completing it. That is something I will regret when my life comes to a close.
Is there something in your life that you wish you had continued and perhaps done differently?

Best of luck to you and I hope you can get your story in writing, I have been writing online for over ten years and the one thing I would like to get on Vocal Media is my life story, I know that who would want to know about my life but there are some amusing things about my growing up years and so now I am gathering my saved up material and then will make the first post and see how it goes and what people on social media say, I see no reason not to try,

No reason at all. I would love to read it.

I always wrote, but lately, it was so it could come to fruition in movie form, but that kind of activity must depend on many others. Lately, I just use my imagination (like always) and if I have a great line or idea, I'll post it somewhere online, or if the laptop is off, I'll write it on paper and put it on top of the laptop with the marker over it to keep it still.. When I wake up, I can type it up, so I never lose it.
There's many other things. Mostly in the arts, but I would have loved to be able to expand my social experimentation. If I had a lot of money, I could hire the best musicians, etc.. Start my own "club" for "My kinda people" (if they exist)

I used to lose my ideas all the time. I thought I would remember them so I didn't write them down before I went to bed. A lot of good ideas gone.

Kind of like you, I wish I continued writing. I wrote on my blog regularly before. And now that "life" and pretty much a lot had happened, I don't write or read as much. Reading helps with vocabulary, theme, and tone. Writing helps me express myself. I'm a firm believer of it's never too late, so I can always go back to what excites me. Best of luck to all of us! :)

I doubt that I will. Good that you have it all done.

I do a lot of writing...have written over 2,500 reviews and articles. I do have a children's book done in rhyme that I will regret not getting published.

You should do that. That's a lot of reviews and articles. I didn't keep count of how I many I did.
