My day has been made. The Bluebirds have returned. Yesterday I put up the bluebird house. And they immediately claimed it.
So far they are going in and out of the house. But we will see what happens. Often times other birds will come along and take over. But for now, it is only the bluebirds.
It has been two years since they raised a family in my backyard, due to other birds. I hope this will be the year for bluebirds.
Dustin plays a hand in the bluebirds as well. That is what makes them my Bluebirds of Happiness.A story for another day.
Photo is mine.

I know the birds are a sign of those departed. I agree Carol, Dustin RIP has a hand in this.
I often see the birds here on the fence when I am at my lowest point..I know it is Mama RIP

@CarolDM I always worry when I don't see certain critters in my backyard that are usually there. When they come back around I feel relieved.

@MissNikki It has been two years and the other birds will chase them away often.

I hope no other birds take over what the bluebirds claimed the first. Have a nice evening.

Oh, such a lovely bird. I'm hoping to see an Oriole again this year. A rear sighting here.

I haven't seen a bluebird since I moved out west.
I just did a quick search and apparently, populations were wiped out on the peninsula around the turn of the century for unknown reasons.
The Audubon Society has said that over the past few years, they have been returning in small numbers.
I hope to see them here one day soon. I would love to have a family in my yard. I have several houses that aren't used.
