Our Foundation is Shaky and Getting Worse

We are building enormous edifices on a thin base, foundation. Building and destruction go on - hopes and despair side by side. We try to find an oasis of peace but behind it, we can hear the drums of war rumbling. We also cannot ignore the threat of nuclear weapons unleashed at the drop of a hat. No one knows who will jump the gun. Looks like a single person can decide our destiny or take us back to the Stone Age. Maybe, we feel powerless when hatred and ego prevail over love and compassion. We all know what we have to opt for but that choice is taken out of our hands. Love has to shine amid the enveloping darkness. We can individually live our lives in such a way to encourage and spread peace. That could slowly turn the tide or at least make a dent in the warmongering and lead us to sanity and peace. Democracy and freedom cannot override the actions of a few even in the twenty-first century sadly. Image: Freedom from free image site Pixabay

It is a sad reality that we are facing tensions at the level of getting on a world war just because one nation bullies another one and is kept hostage if anyone would intervene the aggressor might release all of its might to everyone who would intervene.

@Shiva49 I think that is the reason why many are still hesitant on involving a helping hand to Ukraine from the West. They do not want to trigger Russia from acting irresponsibly from declaring World War III.

Yes, so far there has been a restraint in terms of nuclear weapons. However, threats of using them are ever-present like a Damocles Sword hanging over our heads.

@rsa101 The main threat is things can get out of hand in a jiffy So far someone has backed out when we reached the brink thankfully.

Democracy cannot succeed - rule by the people is still human governance. We were not designed to be independent of our creator. The ‘Lord’s Prayer’, that many recite, refers to a kingdom or governmental system, authorized by our Creator, Jehovah. It will not try to patch up the current governments - they are diseased and corrupt to their core. The governments of today will be removed and replaced entirely. We’re getting very close - never in history has mankind been so on the brink of ‘ruining the earth’. Our Creator will not allow his purpose to be thwarted. It’s up to individuals to find out how to become a citizen of the only solution to the problems of the world.

A higher intervention may be the only escape route when we are bent upon self-destruction. Live and let others live is a lovely tenet but hardly followed lost as we are in endless greed and ego mode.

@Shiva49 We've never had the ability to rule ourselves - but a choice was made for us, by our first parents, to decide for ourselves what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'. The entire experiment - of mankind trying to live independently of our loving Creator has been a disaster - every type of government has been tried, and has failed. Its important, though, to realize, that man has not been going along without any 'higher' interference. The one who instigated the rebellion of our first parents, the great liar and resister, has been identified as 'the god of this system of things' and he 'blinds the minds' of people - making them think we can go it on our own. '...the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one' says John 5:19, which explains a LOT. We need the intervention of the only one who has the power to evict this 'wicked one' and reverse the damage he has done.

@sulynsi Yes, many generations have suffered including innocent children. We are going around in endless circles of getting even with hatred trumping love. It is time we are able to turn the corner.

Most from all sides want peace but for the leaders, peace denotes weakness and surrender!

What an irony - the thirst for freedom of the vast majority and the threat of annihilation from someone who has no qualms in creating misery and havoc.

Democracy, without love, always turns to being dictatorship. A real leader leads from their heart, not from the ego, or greed of their minds. We must acknowledge the power of our creator to be able to reach a position of living from love fully. We cannot love fully just being ourselves only in our lives. We can only ever love fully through God in us loving fully through us with his Spirit living within us too. Nobody can love fully but God, and we can only do that when we are loving via God in us, being us through us too.

@Shiva49 The religious teachings have espoused love over a long period of time: "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." That verse is from the book of Ephesians, chapter 4, verse 2. It says it all. We need to retain humility, or we puff up with greed, pride, and anger, and so then we want to treat others with contempt, disdain, and violence, rather than with patience, and love.

@innertalks Patience and sagacity are pushed to the background when anger and emotions overtake us. Humility is hardly practiced in the real world where it is more of might is right.

Yes, we need to step up not only in terms of making weapons of mass destruction. Our wrong priorities have made us more vulnerable by the day. With weapons in hand, why not threaten and dominate others - it is too tempting for some leaders. Might is right will mean the demise of the world order. God's love should be reciprocated by us - pure love in its most pristine form. Treating another as we like to be treated is a good starting point.

Yes, it seems peace throughout the world never lasts for long. Opportunistic countries will take advantage when they see weakness in current leaders. The only peace one will find comes from within. If only there was a strong enough message of peace all will follow. If only we had a peace train to spread the word.
