Yesterday I went shopping. I had to get some documents copies and mail them right away. Office Depot us right next to Foodland supermarket. After I got my documents ready for mailing, I went shopping.
Saw the green onions. Looked very fresh! I got a bunch. It was delicious in my fried rice I made for brunch.
Green onions are one vegetable, that is a lot when cut. By accident, we found out, refrigerator, dehydrated some cut green onions we had in paper towels. Since then, I've been buying green onions without fear of it rotting on me. How do you keep your green onions fresh?

You mean to say, if you wrap them in paper towels or say, a dry clean plastic, it won't rot easily? If so, that's a good tip. This is certainly a delicious ingredient to add to a dish.

I only wrap it in paper towels, to let refrigerator dehydration happen. I double the paper towels then gently wrap like a gift then secure with a rubber band.

But you know what, frozen seems better for green onions. Glad I posted about it, found out, freezing is better.
The refrigerator is a good dehydrator, though. I wrap my veggies & fruits so it won't dry out.

Green onions are very common vegetable for us to make different dishes. I use this way to keep green onions fresh.
First clean the green onions and then chop it into little pieces. And then add a very little bit baking soda and mix it with the green onions. Store it into a little storage box and put it inside the fridge. It will stay green and fresh in a week.

Thanks for the tip. For me, as you see my picture, it's a lot of green onions in local bunch, so better if I dehydrate them, for use later.

@oahuwriter In fact you can also keep the roots of the green onions and put them into a bottle and change clean water everyday. Then after a week you can have green onions again. If you have a garden, then it will be better since you can grow them easily.

Yes, green onions easiest to vegetable to grow. I'll just freeze it now, better than my method of dehydration. Thanks though!

@oahuwriter Mostly Vince only needs a small amount and it thaws almost immediately. It is never a problem.

You're welcome. I double my paper towels, to hold green onions, wrap like a gift, then hold it with rubber band. I let it air dry a bit, like an hour, then refrigerate.
