I just learned something

My son developed a canker sore in his mouth that he swears he doesn't know how it happened. He is prone to them. He will accidentally bite his lip or the side of his mouth and get them. But this time, he didn't do any of those things and he still got one.
He did just start a new stressful job. So I looked it up online and learned that stress can cause canker sores.
Isn't that interesting? I never knew that stress can cause canker sores. I have always thought they were caused by accidentally biting your lip or hitting the gum or side of the mouth with a fork or toothbrush.

Also your mouth s crazy dangerous because so much bacteria lives there why toothaches can spread like wild fire. Even brushing your teeth to hard can rip hole in gums and create a problem. Stress does not help because body combating that and not where problem is.
Again amazing how fragile we really are but tough at same time just have to be very careful and drink lots of whisky. I added that because only thing that cures toothaches without seeing a dentist who usually just rip teeth out.

@LeaPea2417 It's hard to help them too at that stage. Hard to know what to say.

Try putting butter on it. I think it helps to soothe it a little.

It's funny you mention that. I was reading an article yesterday about a woman who thought she had a canker sore on the back of her tongue. It was cancer. I'm not saying that's your son, no, not at all. But your discussion brought that to mind. I had no idea stress could do that.

I know cold sores come out with colds but I didn’t know cancer sores can be caused by stress. I used to get them constantly as a kid. They were so painful I couldn’t eat many times. I don’t get them often now thankfully. Usually I get them if I cut my mouth on a chip or if I eat certain kinds of cereal that are very hard like Captain crunch.

That's how I usually get them, if I bite my lip or hit my gum with a tooth brush. My son just gets them mostly. It bums him out.

When I get them it's usually when I bite my lip and it is always in the same spot. It is frustrating. Also, once or twice in the past, the sore will nearly be healed then I will bite it again in the same spot.Thats doubly upsetting. Luckily that doesn't happen all the time.

@LeaPea2417 Those things are painful, I had a liquid to apply that helped to heal faster, I have to find it, it's a long time I do not have sore cankers.

Stress is a cause of many things but doctors won't acknowledge that!

Oh, I get those from time to time. SO annoying! It's always in the front, on the inside of my lower lip. I'm not sure if it's stress for me bc I'm pretty laid back, but maybe - I usually just assume that it was something I ate.

Canker sores can also be caused by a virus. I caught it from one of my Avon customer's kids (many, many years ago); and my mouth was full of them.

Some people are prone to them and others aren't. My late husband got them frequently and I've never had one. He rinsed with salt water to speed up the healing.

Oh yes, that happens to me too - sometimes I get cold sores. Rare but usually after a cold, or after being stressed out
