Cutting back on sugary drinks is hard

I think I'm addicted to sugary drinks. For someone who usually drinks a bottle of soda once every few days, getting one most days is too much for me. I find myself naturally reaching for one every time I finish dinner. I often work late into the night, so to keep myself awake, I get myself a sugar-sweetened drink, thinking that the refreshing fizz will stimulate me to do a good job. This has been going on for a few weeks now. One day I stood in front of the mirror and realized that I had a double chin and excess belly fat. It was shocking considering that I used to be skinny. I want to return to my normal weight; that's why I decided to cut back on sugary drinks. But, oh boy, no one tells me it was going to be this hard
In the first few days, I had a hard time concentrating on my work. Also, since I couldn't get sugar even if I crave it, I ate more snacks instead. It's hard, but I have to. I haven't drank soda or other bottled drinks for four days so far. Let's see how long I can keep this streak
Do you also notice that you drink too much sugary drinks? How do you cut back on them?

I think the environment affects my diet too. My family loves sweets, so it would be a bit difficult to drastically change my diet. But I want to try!

Yes, I do realize it's not impossible, too. I just have to consistently do it and remember my reasons.

I am also fond of soda beverages. I think my weight gain comes from the chips and other snacks which seem to go along with them so well. And as I get up in years, I find it harder to lose the weight. Good luck on your effort to cut back. I have not figured out how to live without soda, but a gradual withdrawal would be my plan of attack

Perhaps you can try to cut back by taking sweet drinks like once a week or something. Munch on fruits on other days, and maintain a food journal or something.
