I just read that Japa (Will Smith´s wife) "had never wanted to marry him"
I have to quote: A 2018 episode of Red Table Talk has begun resurfacing online in which Will Smith appeared as a guest when his wife described their wedding as “horrible” and insisted she “never wanted to get married.”
Considering that she married him in 1997 and that we are not in the Middle Ages, I think that she had more than enough time to get a divorce.
There are many things in this story that now looks more as a saga. In the US (as in my country, no woman stays married for over 20 years with a man that is not what she wishes to have as her husband.
Of course there might be other situations, all shocking. Did she love to stay married to Will Smith´s money? Or toi his fame?
Because is is disgusting that now, after Will Smith might have ruined his career to defend her, she throws the last stone towards him.
I am still for Will Smith, in spite his slap. After all, and in spite of his Oscar, he seems to have married a b***h.
Have you read about this? What´s your opinion?

I believe that she had an open affair a couple of years ago.
After that it was noted that he was kind of intimidated by her, she doesn't sound like a 'friendly' or loving person.
Neither of them will be in the limelight much now after their behaviour at that awards show. They should both be ashamed of themselves.

I did not care before the slap. But I do care when punishment is equal.

@CarolDM On the other hand, I confess that I am a prude as marriage goes. I don´t believe in open marriages. Why marry then?

@marguicha - She looks like a bully, I do not like her a bit. It is like she is dominating him.

I say a real man wouldn't allow his wife to have affairs and then boast about it in public. Her statements about her open marriage and the wedding to Smith are just plain ugly. She is dirty.
No real man would want sloppy seconds from his wife.
Why he puts up with this, I'll never understand.

Maybe at the time she didn't want to get married; but perhaps she loves him now. I don't know.

No, I haven't read it, but heard a lot about their marriage, that would take a lot to deal with.

What I just read was a shame. This is not the moment to say anything about a 20 year old marriage.

I couldn't care less honestly.
I think that stunt at the Oscars was staged.

I've never really followed any celebrity relationships. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my own. lol But I'm team Will myself. I know my own hubby wouldn't ever stand up for me like that. He'd actually probably be the one making the jokes.

Even though I´, pro equality of men and women that includes that my man has to stand up for me if somebody makes a joke of any medical issue I might have. But that´s another story. Now that Smith has problems, even his wife of over 20 years will add wood into the fire. I did not have a "perfect" marriage. Who does? But we kept our problems in our house and we solved them.

My son read about it two days ago and told me how awful Jada is. I share the same opinion as you with regards to Will Smith. Still like the guy actually and I just couldn't hate him after what he did to Chris Rock. Never liked Jada ever. The only movie I saw that she was in I think was the Nutty Professor and the other one that I seem to have forgotten.

that´s my opinion. Now that people are asking for more respect toward others, to joke AT others is unthinkable.

I do know they have an open marriage which I think is disgusting. Who knows how many VDs they both may have.

This is news to me, but it does not come as a surprise either. Especially considering their "open marriage" thing which always boggles my mind—why even be married? Either way, she DOES seem to me to be exactly as you described her, without question. Gold digger may be the other of your suggestions that comes to mind since her career has never been nearly as pronounced as Will's.
As for the slap, of course I am not in favor of what he did and for a lot of reasons beyond just the slap itself. I mean, really, after all, is she even worth defending?
I think probably not.

I have haven't read it about it, but my mother says she has. Yeah she doesn't sound like a nice woman. I do love Will Smith though.
