I´ll have to live in a tighter budget.

Today I went to the Bank and turned part of my Chilean pesos into dollars. With that I know that I will pay the resorts and the groceries in Aruba.
But now I have to find out how to pay for the air fare and for some expenses that I will still have to pay in Santiago.
I am also buying little by little my meds. In my country meds are not covered by health insurance unless you are staying at the hospital. And during covid, nobody can stay more than one or 2 days, even when they are quite ill
Today I decided not to buy groceries online. I went to the Bank and after that I bought some meds and some groceries. I did buy a couple of luxuries though. As I could not bring back water, I bought orange juice ( Florida´s natural and VERY expensive) and some hard candy (Juicy apple drops imported from Germany)
Do you stick to a list when you buy?

@JudyEv My deep freeze is filled with "bargains. Now I decided that I would not buy more until I make room for other food.

Not really, I am big into impulse buys, which tend to drain the budget. However, I usually rationalize it that such and such was a good deal.

@marguicha I don't buy clothes too often. I usually make do with what I have.

I buy more than what I need, but it is only in groceries. I don´t spend much money on other things. I buy good clothes but they last me ages as I take good care of them.

@marguicha Insurance premiums are expensive. Often more costly than medication.

When I used to do the shopping, I always stuck to the list. My husband buys all kinds of things not on his list.

I remember that many decades ago, my husband took me to the supermarket. I discovered that the couple of things he bought were as expensive as the rest of the cart

I bought too many groceries for 2 or 3 months. Until I discovered that it wasn´t clever at all.

No, not really. Even if I probably should.

When I buy online I don´t edit the list. But now that I actually went there, I wrote the list and then I had time to cross out what I didn´t really need. The new technology has made us forget the real editing.

Buying online has been bad for me as I add many things. Today, In spite of the couple of luxuries, I spent about a fourth.

There are lists and lists. I forget that I live alone. Today I tried my best. And last week I looked around and simply did not buy groceries.

That is always my problem when I order online, First of all, I have no choice because I have no way to get to any supermarket, So I have to put up with service fees and tips. So what I do is make my order so that I have food to eat for at least most of the month and into the following month but I am always adding and subtracting items until I am satisfied, If there was a way to get to a store I would not order online but go and get what I need and to that each week,

Now that it seems that we can live with the covid I can walk to a small supermarket near my house to buy a couple of things and order only once a month when I need the big bag of Luna´s food.

The bad thing about this small supermarket I visited today is that it has all sorts of tempting and yummy groceries near the entrance.
