Kandase recently wrote a discussion about being a dark horse and invited us to share about our talents that might not be very visible. At first I thought, "Not sure what my talents are." I really don't like to hear people bragging about what they do, so I don't want to sound like that. As far as the things I enjoy, I guess singing has always been my greatest pleasure. I've written before that my earliest "performance" lol, is when I was about five and I sang Jesus Loves Me in church while an older gentleman played it on his violin for me. Years later after I was married, I wrote several country music songs, had a small band, and won a few talent shows singing those songs. We played at King's Dominion (or was it Busch Gardens? Long time ago.) Not into country now, so I sing specials in church, at funerals, and sometimes weddings. I love to write in my journals and on myLot. I composed and framed a poem for each grandchild that told about their personalities. I've written and preached a couple of sermons, although my husband is the preacher in the family. Taught Sunday School and did the children's message for many years. I'm not a gardening person. I'm so glad my husband is, but even houseplants don't fare well in my care. I like to sew, but nothing too complicated. I made many a princess and wedding dress for our granddaughter when she was little, now she's getting married for real next month! I do love to cook and have become pretty good at cooking gluten free. Well, most of the time. There are some things that will just never be delicious without wheat flour. But I'm still learning and it's really helped Dale feel much better. I have at times learned to crochet and knit, but they were short lived skills. Didn't take long to lose interest. I guess our talents change over the years. So that's pretty much it for me. I'd love to hear you all, too. Thanks, Kandase!

You are very talented Vicky. I agree that our talents change over the years, some evolve, while we totally lose interest for other things.

@1creekgirl - I was never tired when I was young, but I notice how tired I am now when I work in the garden. Aging is not easy.

Hmm, this is not really a hidden talent but I can crochet, do basic sewing, change light bulbs and write songs too. Basic ones at that; nothing too fancy though.

Writing songs is a skill. Singers sing the songs and get a lot of acclaim, but where would they be without the songwriter? Of course there are many famous singers who write their own songs too.

I kill just about any plant I go near. I cannot carry a tune in a bucket. I am completely tone deaf. I get that from my mother. She loves to sing though just like you but she is so so bad at it . Sounds like you are good at many things. I’m really just mediocre at things I don’t have any talents. @Kandae11 thank you for suggesting this post to me

I think you have a LOT of talents that you keep hidden under a basket, as they say. What am I good at? Detail work, accounting, needlepoint, embroidery, writing and yes, acting. I always wanted to be a singer; but God decided that was not for me and blessed me with a voice of a chicken when I sing! lololol Hope you are doing better. You are a brave woman.

Thank you, Linda...what kind words. You have many abilities, I wish I were better at math. I'm the church treasurer and I make sure the bank statement comes out to the penny, but when it comes to my own bank statement I'm happy if it's within two hundred. I wish I had some of your talents. I crosstitched years ago, but eyesight isn't good enough now.
