"This is It" is not necessarily on my list of top 10 songs; but it holds a significance in Michael Jackson's career. Co-written by Jackson and Paul Anka, it was released in 2009, 4 months after Jackson's death. This pop ballad received a Grammy Award nomination in 2011. The accompanying music video directed by Spike Lee has clips throughout Jackson's childhood and career. The song is about a new love he feels he's known "since 1,000 years". "This is It" reached #1 in Iceland and #18 on the US charts. Now for the significance of the song... At the time of his death, Michael was rehearsing for a huge tour..."This is It". Dozens of singers, dancers, musicians and stage persons were put out of work when he died. There is a fantastic documentary ("This is It!") which shows rehearsals of the tour. I highly recommend it.
