Nostalgic toys

Thinking back to your children's childhood, or your childhood, are there toys that you miss?
I am sure this will sound silly, but I miss the plastic army men and more importantly the plastic little airplanes. They were one to two inches long.
My brother and our neighbor kid Aaron Wade Williams and I dug out tunnels and airports and used left over building materials and made cities and airports.
I was amazed, my brother could differentiate the planes. I was fascinated by the F 14's. I suppose his fascination came because we grew up a couple of miles from an Air force base. Or maybe because a cargo plane crashed right behind our home in the easement, less than a month before he was born.
I learned on my way home from Oklahoma that Aaron Wade Williams has passed away. Funeral is today. He was one of our first childhood friends. RIP Aaron. We will miss you.

I miss my paper dolls and often think I should have my daughter get out the ones I saved over the years and actually play with them.

@Marilynda1225 sometimes I did and sometimes I cut out people in bathing suits from magazines and made clothes for them. A lot of times I got books of them for birthdays and rewards.

My brother had lots of those little green plastic army men. I used to love when he let me play with him and his other cool toys, He never wanted to play dolls with me

I used to trade one of my dolls to my cousin for a while and play with his truck or car toys.
We would do that in secret because back in 50's his parents and mine thought we should play with toys to match our gender.

@marlina we used to have Lincoln Logs too and played with them for hours. I guess I was more tomboy back then because I enjoyed playing with my brothers toys more than mine. We used to build houses and garages for all his Matchbox cars with the Lincoln Logs

I miss the many small boxes that my Gramma and mother gave to me to use as 'furniture' for my Barbie's to use.
This box was her tv set, that box was her bed another her chair. I had quite the imagination, not sure that kids today still dig that deep into their imaginations.

Pippa dolls. They were smaller than Sindy and Barbie. I don't think they make them any more. I still have my Pippa dolls. They could be worth something now but I'm not selling.

I had a few Barbies, my cousin had more. Some you could dye their hair with "magic solutions".

I have one stuffed doll I used to play with when I was a kid, but I don't miss it at all because it still accompanies me to this day! Well, it's surely worn out, but whenever the thread comes off I immediately sew it back up. It also still looks like new as long as I wash it often
On a side note, I'm sorry about your friend.

Sorry for your loss buddy. During my childhood days living in a rural area, and in an age where computers and the internet are only for the rich, a regular stick, stones, and even an old car tire are considered already a toy for us. There were a lot of toys back then that don't exist anymore like the LEGO Knockoff (a.k.a. Poor Man’s LEGO).

Oh, I loved rocks. When I was even younger my older sister introduced me to sand rocks (sand stone). We would rub rocks against various colored sand rocks and collect the red and yellow sand and all the colors in between.

@marlina For some reason I'd gotten one two years in a row at Christmas, so that second one was a disappointment. Plus I really wanted a piano, a real one, not one of those plinky toys. I'd got one of those for Christmas one year, too.

Sorry to hear about your friend. That's a long history.
I still have most of the toys from my childhood as my parents kept all sorts of things. My favourites were my Britains farm animals

Sad to hear about the passing of your childhood friend.
I miss jacks. I played for hours playing with jacks. I don't see them in stores.

Only plastic jacks if you find any. My sister was good at them. I was not coordinated enough to enjoy them and never learned. I liked marble games, though.

@oahuwriter Mostly they are with the cheap toys in the dollar stores. The thing about marbles is that they ae beautiful to look at even if you do not play a game. It is soothing just to run them through your hands.
