Ordering Scam

Yesterday is the third time that a parcel arrived for my mother. My mother really don't make any order but they keep on coming. It has her full name, address and phone number.
I wonder who makes those orders. We ended up cancelling those orders because my mom is not into buying things online. My 3 siblings always buy online but never encounter this.
My mom has no shopping app and she has no many money to make orders online. Yesterday it is worth 435 pesos. She really can't remember making an order online. If she received it she will be scammed.
Does it happen to you?

@averygirl72 Whoever is making this would just bounce back to the one selling since it will just be rejected by the buyer so the seller will not earn from this at all.

@rsa101 Good thing my mom don't just accept them and believe the courier easily that she has an order. Good thing she know that she really didn't order anything. Some people think they can scam us

Maybe she made mistakes where she displayed her name, address and phone and now there are orders coming even if she knew she is not making any of them

If it's the same company sending the things, and the Philippines have similar laws to the US, you can call the company and tell them thank you for the free gift. In the US, anything that hasn't been ordered by you but is sent to you is yours to keep free of charge.
My mom was in a nursing home and I was responsible for her/her money. One company kept sending her stuff and then sending her a bill for it. I checked into the laws governing that type of thing and then contacted them, thanking them for the free gifts. They stopped sending stuff to her.

No it is not a free gift. We are going to pay for them. They come from different sender. I think it is really meant to scam my mom if she pay for what she really did not order

@averygirl72 If she didn't order them she should not be obliged to pay for them.

@kareng Yes. Maybe they think they will confuse my mom and convince her that she made an order

No we are asked to pay for them. Why would she take them if she know she did not order anything?

No it has not happened to me. How on earth did the scammer get her address. That's scary. I don't flaunt my address anywhere.

@averygirl72 you should tell her to be careful to do that. Especially on Facebook. Facebook isn't a secure site. They share your info to almost everybody.

Does your mom have a secret admirer? Maybe he or she has paid for the items. If not, then it's just blatant scam.

That's weird. Why would people do this? I can't point out what kind of advantage they want to gain from your Mom. It's even weirder that she doesn't buy things online. How did these people get her address and full name? If I were to make any assumptions, the senders must be people who knew your mother Did she pay for it? And how about the parcel? What did you guys do with it? Did the courrier just take it back?

Luckily the courier won't force us to receive the package and just have it cancelled. If my mother just received them she will be totally scammed

@averygirl72 I'm glad your mother wasn't forced to pay for it. After all, she didn't order it.

As long as she didn't need to pay for those parcels, I don't see any harm in just taking the parcels. If on the other hand, the courier demands payment for the parcel then just refuse the parcel.
Where I live, there's this scam that is going on where the scammer will send a parcel to an unsuspecting victim and demands a small payment for the parcel delivered. Sometimes people will pay because they thought that they may have forgotten that they had ordered the item online. If they refused to pay, the courier company will return the parcel back to the sender. No harm done. It's actually a very clever scam.
