Has this food craze reach your place now? Here Korean Samgyupsal has sprouted all over my country and near where the place I live. There are two restaurants now serving Korean samgyupsal in my town. Actually I really don't enjoy it every time we eat at this unlimeated grilled pork belly restaurants. I don't like grilling food in my table and I have to wait before I can eat. I want food ready to eat. They are also not healthy because it is full of pork fat. I also don't like the side dishes that come with it. It's weird for my taste bud but I like the pickled cucumber but it is so spicy. I don't know why people here love it so much. I really don't like it and not excited to eat on those restaurants again

16 years ago there were several Korean restaurants in my city already and that was when I was still eating pork and enjoyed samgyupsal. They were owned by Korean people so the taste was really authentic. Now, every corner in the city has samgyupsal and I've been told by friends they don't taste as authentic as those ones by the Korean people. These restaurants now are owned by filipinos copying the Korean menu.

@averygirl72 I've been to a couple of home parties that had samgyupsal. I prefer those over the restaurants.

I don’t eat meat so I couldn’t eat pork. If I were you I’d stick to foods I liked.

We got them here at Oahu, Camelia's is one. People love it! Some Japanese style, Shabuya, or American style 12th Avenue Grill, Hawaiian/ American style Hula Grill Waikiki and others.

It also has veggies to mix with so the fats are somehow balanced. I tried it once before and it looks most are grilled so it's supposed to drain the fats from the meat. But since this is usually pork belly it is very fatty and not all fats are drained. I think this is so popular because of its similarity with the dishes we usually love to eat and also, we Filipinos love anything about Koreans

Yes there are veggies like cucumber, lettuce etc. The meat has more fat than meat. Yes Filipinos like Korean culture too

Though I like the crispiness of grilled pork belly I'm not really satisfied. Yeah even if it is popular does not mean I have to like it too

Yep, it's certainly been a rave here. Several Korean-style BBQ restaurants have sprung up in the nearby town in recent years. I haven't gone into any, so I can't talk about how they taste, but from what I've observed on social media, they're quite popular. I wanted to try, but unfortunately I can't eat pork. Plus, I suspect they will be expensive.

Yeah a rave. Why you can't eat pork? It's not expensive. It's affordable. Here it is unlimited serving
