Spring Is Springing!

The screams of FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! were heard all over today. Yes, it made it to 80 here today. It felt like spring!!
I had a most blessed day. I put on the shorts that I was going to get rid of because they were too tight (translation: I was too fat), and they fit great now. Believe me, there’s nothing better than taking the “fat clothes” you bought back to the store because they’re way too big and no longer fit!!!
After lunch I went to one of my favorite nearby getaways, Saunders Springs Nature Preserve in Radcliff (the town that borders the Fort Knox army post). Because it’s been wet around here lately, the “springs” were running. Along the Tranquility Trail the sounds of the water filled the air.
I had to “climb” (they’re stairs, and it is a little steep) up to the top of the after-rain waterfall (which was flowing). Just up the trail from the bridge that crosses it is the I-kid-you-not “High Reservoir.” I’ve mentioned this before: it was named for someone named “Buzz High.” 
You can’t make this stuff up.
Anyway, that’s where I took this picture: the red buds blooming in the foreground with the lake in the background made a nice photo.
I walked over a mile, enjoying the beauty of the day, the sound of the waterfall, and the warmth of spring.

It’s mid-80s here, and everyone is down on the waterfront baking for the air show and fireworks. A guy at the restaurant asked why i didn’t go and I said, “I’m not a people person.” I’ll watch it on TV.

Sounds like you had an amazing day in the great outdoors. I always love when I can get out in nature.
Red buds are a favorite of mine, and there are tons of them around here where I live. They are magnificent when they are blooming. We also have a ton of white buds as well.
Hope you enjoy your spring weather. It's been very pleasant here in north Florida as well. Enjoying it while I can before summer rears its ugly head.

@moffittjc — yeah, but you need those nets to keep the front end of your car from being caked with love bugs. 
But you’re right, they don’t bite, and they’re gone in a month.

@FourWalls Right now we're dealing with the love bug swarms. I'm not sure which is worse, the mosquitoes or the love bugs. At least the love bugs don't bite!

@FourWalls Something to look to forward and that is called living. At the moment I am looking forward to flowers blooming in our garden. Have transplanted several flowering seedlings

When I lived in Hawaii the weather never changed, so there was always baseball spring training to look forward to instead.

Thanks, glad you like the photo. I’m thrilled with the warm temperatures, too!! Tomorrow is Thunder Over Louisville, the start of the Derby Festival, and it’s one of the few times we’re supposed to have perfect weather!

@FourWalls That is great!! We have a nice day on tap for tomorrow again in the 70's-- maybe getting into low 80's but rain will be back Sunday afternoon, over night and into Monday according to the forecast.

That's cool, we are almost in full leaf here. There will be a bit more that will pop out though. These next few "hot days" and thunderstorms will probably bring out the rest of the leaves.

Only got up to 68 here today though the thermostat inside read 75 at one point. I was/am wearing a long sleeved UA shirt and shorts. Between my illness and random hot flashes I was constantly opening up the window and then closing it. It is 59 out there now and the window is closed. When did body and room temperature get so complicated?
