A record - four beanies in one day

When I’m taking photos at a horse endurance ride, I spend a lot of time just waiting for horses to come past. All the riders in one section leave at the same time but they soon spread out over quite some distance and you can be left cooling your heels while you wait. I decided to put my crochet in a plastic bag in my backpack and while I’m waiting for horses, I can get on with crocheting beanies for the Shoebox Christmas appeal.
I did four on one day over Easter. They are easy for me and I can watch the road or whatever for horses as I work. The photo shows 13 that I’ve made from wool my brother-in-law gave me. Hopefully, the beanies won’t all go to the same village or whatever but I guess it won't matter too much. These will no doubt be put in ‘boy’ bags but I’ll do more in brighter colours for 'girl' bags.
I'm glad I thought of this as I don't much like wasting time.

So you’re saying either you’re a very fast crocheter or those horses are really slow?
That was a great idea, and what an accomplishment!!

that is amazing! I cannot make beanies quite yet myself, I have been crocheting for over 4 years but I haven't really learned out to do rounds yet, but I can make a decent potholder! but I don't think I could make one in a day let alone a set D:
That is so awesome I am impressed.

@JudyEv I do have a question though, did you do a granny stitch around? I know you said you were in australia so I'm not sure what you use for words in crochet because I know the uk says it differently than the us. So I think if you use the UK version it would be a treble(sp?) stitch and then a chain, and repeat.

Great use of time, and I am sure the beanies will be much loved.

I enjoy knitting while watching tv. I’ll also bring my projects with me if we go to visit people.

@JudyEv I have tried to crochet without looking at my work but i usually end up ripping it out. I am better with knitting,

Those beanies are so cute and I'm sure they will be appreciated even if they go to the same village. It's a good way to spend your time while you're waiting for the horses and make some kids happy with their beanies too.

Those are great, and you are obviously super fast! I'm with you, I hate waiting around, so I always take a book with me, or sometimes knitting if it's the right kind of place (I can read a book waiting for the supermarket checkout, but if I got my knitting out that might be a bit too odd!)

Haha - yes, there are some places where crocheting/knitting isn't quite de rigeur. I have a book in the door pocket of the car. Vince can take as much time as he likes if I have something to read. I didn't do much crocheting for ages but I'm back into it now.

I was really surprised how much as I got done as I took over 300 photos for the day as well.
