…And I can say that ‘cause I just turned 62!
A couple of years ago I did a monthlong celebration of songs that were turning 40 and 50 in 2020. I’m going to do that again, but first…..
Let’s celebrate some sixty-year-old songs! That’s right, the wild and wonderful year of 1962.
If you’re wondering, 1962 was the year the Beatles recorded “Love Me Do” for VeeJay Records.
So I’ll continue to celebrate life in the 60s with some songs that are 60 this year.
As usual, it’ll be 21 days of alphabetical order, then my ten favorites for the last ten days of the month.
If you are wondering why we should look back on something that is 60 years old, I’ll ask if you remember that band “Right Said Fred” and their hit. Ever wonder where they got that band name from?
Answer: from a song that came out in 1962!
Hope you’ll enjoy this.

Yeah, it is. Of course, “I’m Too Sexy for My Shirt” isn’t exactly poetry…..

I like this thing your doing with old songs. I become nostalgic when I play these songs. The songs of my past make me sad.
I hope to reach that age too. It sounds nice.

If you're anything like me, you'll be at 62 before you know what happened!

@yoalldudes — when I was a kid there was a song popular by country singer Roy Clark (it had been originally written by Charles Aznavour) called “Yesterday, When I Was Young.” I thought that was funny in 1969. It ain’t funny now.
Yes, the years fly by before you know it.

@FourWalls Yes it is. I liked a lot of their songs. I use to love to hear them sing Eleanor Rigby.

Hard to believe the Beatles’ first recordings are 60 years old now, isn’t it.

@popciclecold I was thinking about that the other day. The Beatles did wonders for my name, but not for Eleanor.
Yes, my parents named me after the Beatles’ “Michelle” and Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne.”

Thanks. And I’m glad you got a laugh out of the song. Nobody will ever mistake that for “Blowin’ in the Wind.”
