Greek Mythology Vs Christianity

Reading about Greek mythology and reading the bible, I can see a lot of similarities between the both of them. Jesus is the son of God and born to a mortal Mother Hercules is the son of the God of gods and was also born to a mortal mother. Jesus is mentally and spiritually strong and concurring illness and afflictions through miracles of spirituality Hercules is Physically strong and concering the underworld and saving humans from physical and emotional trauma. Most humans put feelings and expressions down as just that, the ancient Greeks looked at them as a physical thing and explained them as physical and because the happenings were mysterious they saw them as performed by Gods. Ancient Greece wasn't all that wrong by Christian standards, their understanding of the world was different but also very much similar to what Christians see the world today. There are so many different faiths these days and even faiths within faiths. For example, Christianity has over 25,000 different faith alone that teach religion and beliefs in 25,000 different ways. There are extremes and there are modest and then there are those who feel that any religion is just as good or bad as the next religion. There are those who feel that religion is something created by man to make people have a choice about the world. The ancient Greeks saw things as a literal being who gave them light and weapons were the causes of disasters such as lightning storms and the like. Other ancient civilizations also had Gods too such as the Egyptians, and the Mayans of South America. Every time period through history has had an explanation for the world and the many wonders we see and feel every day. From the rising of the sun to the way lands were formed. Who is to say that they were all wrong and we have it right. Technology has given us a better understanding of many things and also continues to leave other things completely in the dark. Maybe sometimes we are meant to be in the dark about some things and there is no explanation right now or in the immediate future. Just as life is a mystery, some believe that life goes on and others believe that it ends at the grave. It is also possible that life does go on but not as we know it. Some believe in the resurrection and others in reincarnation IIis it possible that both are possible that we are reincarnated until such time as we obtain a perfect understanding and then are resurrected to be perfected in physicality. I am rambling on but I felt the need to put down what I am feeling and thinking on paper. Sometimes its a case of each has their own interpretation of being right or wrong. It is understandable why there is so much confusion in the world with regards to religion when its possible we all have the right idea because we all are a small part of the larger picture and that we are part of a larger picture that some time in the future there is an explanation to it all. It makes sense why sometimes when we meet someone for the first time why we feel like we have known them for years even though we have just met them or so we believe . Its important to know about our past but its even more important to learn from it so we arent doomed to repeat it. OK end of ramble . Would love to hear./ read others thoughts on this

my discussion is not about against one or the other it's a discussion of similarities. It's a discussion about making people realize that no matter the faith there is always common ground. It's like Medicine, with the advancement of technology we know that bleeding is no cure for getting rid of diseases but other things work for bleeding. It's a case of how time changes our understanding of things. I can assure you it was and never will be a case of Christian versus ancient greeks, all I was saying was the similarities between the 2 civilizations. Bearing in mind that Ancient Greece was around 500 years or so before that of the time of Jesus Christ if not longer. My point is that we should appreciate that people have a faith even if we don't agree with their faith. Instead of saying oh you have it all wrong say, I don't agree with but I do share with you this. As Christian, we are too quick to judge others on their faith and not take the time to explore and understand others' beliefs. As I stated in my original discussions there are over 25'000 different Christian religions but they all have things in common. For example, we all believe in Jesus Christ but we follow him in different ways. There are many Christians out there who say just because you practice your faith one way and I practice it in a different way that makes your faith wrong or makes it less relevant.

I see that you have been thinking a lot about the similarities and differences of Greek mythology and Christianity. As a Christian I believe that the difference lies in the main in myth. A myth is historically not verifiable, while the Jewish Christian belief is historically verifiable. Jesus' roots has had dates, location and context.
