I am sure that the owners of a one year old male boxer dog named Kobe are very grateful that a person with a good heart called 911 to report the sighting of the dog that was seen near the Flat Rock River over two weeks ago that was trapped in a sandbar.
The rescue took place on a Thursday afternoon after Kobe ran away from his home the night before from his owners home for some unknown reason.
After the members of the Columbis Animal Care Services were not able to rescue Kobe by feeding the dog by throwing food from a bridge for a period of 30-45 minutes, they went with their backup plan to have the firefighters do their best to save the dog.
One of the Columbus firefighters managed to save Kobe by wearing a dry suit and walking into the river that was waist high and grabbing Kobe and carrying him to the bank of the river where his fellow firefighters brought the dog to safe ground.
The best part of this story is that an eyewitness called the owners of Kobe to inform them that their dog was safe and sound thanks to the work of the firefighters who were just doing their duty to rescue a dog that needed their help.
Kobe did reunite with his owners one day after he ran away from his home the night before.
