When I woke up today, I felt sadness without any reason at all. To make it clearer, I am not in a state of depression. I just felt like sad and cannot pinpoint why. The mood changed when I started to cook something for lunch. By the way, I cooked 'sauteed bitter gourd' today. It seems cooking is like a magical thing to do because I felt happiness after doing it.
How about you, guys?
Did you ever feel this way before?

I won't say that I feel sad or depressed. But yes, there are days that I feel unmotivated in the morning. But then dragging myself to do something or a simple walk helps. Cooking can be therapeutic.

Yes, sometimes when I woke up, I felt unmotivated but not sad or depressed. I did some stretching exercise ( actually it's my usual practice) and had a nice breakfast. Then I felt okay.

@Shavkat Thanks for your kind concern. We still have about 220-250 infected Omicron cases daily. Lockdown is not city wide, just for selected builldings with infected cases.

@Beestring I heard from my Chinese student in Shenzhen about the situation there. She said that they are not allowing people from Hong Kong to China now. Is this a fact?

I think some of that unexpected sadness (which I also get) is a kind of nostalgia. Wishing for things as they used to be. Cooking, and its smells connects with that part of our brain.

For me, I think there's always a reason for feeling down or sad. There should be something bothering me if I feel that way, it's just that I might not figure out what it is yet.
I think doing things with hands is therapeutic - drawing, painting, writing, crocheting, and cleaning the house too.

Hypophrenia, that is what it's called. I too, feel this from time to time a vague feeling of sadness without any cause. No matter how hard I think about what's causing it, I can't think of any reason at all.
