Eye Doctor Made Me A Star

I got to my cataract surgery appointment a little early yesterday because they had gotten a cancelation. In pre-surgery, I joked with the nurses and got my eye drops. Seemed like I got a gazillion eye drops. Some were to dilate and others to numb my eye. Over and over. At one point my doctor(the one doing the surgery) came in with a student. They looked at my eye and the doctor explained that he had shown her two normal cataracts earlier in the day and now he was showing her a very mature one. (He even went on about it at my check-up today) He went on about it so that I felt like a star.
Finally, after an hour and a half I was pushed into the operating room I was feeling a little nervous but was really pretty calm. Much more than I thought I would be. The anesthesiologist put some calming medication in my IV and away we went.
It felt like he was just continuously irrigating the eye. I felt no pain or discomfort whats so ever. In the end, I felt as if a scab were being taken off, just a bit of pinch.
And that was it!
I feel just wonderful. No pain and my vision is great. Not the weird cover over two-thirds of my eye like there was before. I still need my eyeglasses. The doctor said today that my vision would just keep getting better and better. That is great news. I already see better than I thought I ever would again. So, if it gets better I am just thrilled.

I'm glad your surgery was painless. You are lucky that you had some calming meds. I'm glad it's over with. Mine was painful; and I was so nervous.

I was unbelievably calm. I had been so nervous all leading up to it. Then when the day came I was calm. I think that I was actually more nervous about the transportation than the procedure.
Sorry to hear yours was painful. Too bad it couldn't have been more like mine.

@LindaOHio ........I had been nervous all the way up to that very day. The scar tissue shouldn't be a problem.

@celticeagle At least it's over with! I had to have follow-up surgery to remove some scar tissue. That was painless; but I was so nervous!!!

I think I may have felt the pinch because of the maturity of it.

I can’t tell you how thankful to God I am that we’ve made these progressions in medicine. I remember when my dear uncle of blessed memory had cataract surgery in the early 70s. He had go to the hospital and spend a night there for the surgery! When my mom had her surgery it was longer for the pre-op than the actual surgery, and after she was done we went to McDonald’s for lunch.
So happy for you!!!!!
