Prince William was our guide - but don't get too excited

We’ve just returned from a bus trip to HMAS Stirling on Garden Island, just off the coast of Western Australia. HMAS Stirling sounds like it should be a ship but it is a naval base which is connected to the mainland but a 4.2 km causeway. It is a naval base and security is quite strict although we could take photos of some parts.
There are over 600 people employed there and there are dozens of buildings concerned with logistics, stores, workshops, accommodation and all the other paraphernalia which goes with a naval base. There wasn’t much of photographic interest among all that but I did take quite a few photos in the museum.
We were met at the gates by a navy person whose names was Prince William. That’s what we were told and it is more or less correct except that his surname was Prince and his first name William. I’ll tell you more about the base next time.
The photo was taken from a high point on the island.

Those tour guides are always funny like that. My ex used to work at the Washington Navy Yard. It was an old military base. We toured the battleship that was parked there in perpetuity I guess. We even took my mom and dad to see it when they came to visit.

So William Prince was your guide, hmm, quaint. The inverted name, must be like a kind of a joke?

I would hesitate for a second when he told me his name, wondering if he was trying to tell a joke.

Ok, I didn't get excited. I wonder if his name got him the job?

@MarshaMusselman Our guide was two years past compulsory retiring age but I guess they've made an exception for him. Maybe being a guide is classified as 'light duties'.
