My Neighbor Was So Excited Just Now

My neighbor called just now. So very excited. He said you gotta come see what I found in my window. Bring your camera. That is all he said. He doesn't like talking on the phone much and just said to come over when I could. His daughter had just called and we were talking about how good he has been doing since his trip to Florida. And she told me they all had a good time and made great memories. Her son turned 18 while they were at Disney World. And he graduated this year. They are all happy. He will be leaving for college soon. With camera in hand, I went over to see what his surprise was. A robin built a nest in his upstairs window. He snapped this photo before I got there. Two beautiful blue eggs were there in the nest. I was so excited to see this of course. I saw two nests in my yard this year. I hope these eggs hatch and they are all safe. And she may come back and lay more eggs. He will definitely keep a check on it. Too funny. He was so excited. Good to see him so happy. I will keep you updated on the progress of this nest. And maybe more eggs soon. Had to share the joy and excitement. More of the little things to make us smile. Photo is mine, borrowed by my neighbor.

@Plethos These are a lot smaller than the grocery store chicken eggs. Too funny.

Yes they are a beautiful blue color. The name "robin egg blue" is seen in many places and this is where it comes from. I have seen colors of all kinds of home decor, paint, clothes, many things in this color. Here are three in my yard a few weeks ago...

@CarolDM Your backyards must be a nice quiet place for the birds to come and build nests like that.

@Juliaacv Many of us have an acre which gives them plenty of room. And our yards are becoming mature with the large trees. They love those hiding spots. But funny thing, this one used his window.

I love seeing that. Haven't found a nest this year. And it seems there are fewer Robins. But more finches. As long as I hear the birds in the bushes, I enjoy.

Yes they built it inside his window. I hope they will be safe. I have watched many times. You would not believe how long it takes. One piece at a time. And then they arrange it just right. Very cool to see.

@CarolDM I"m sure you'll be busy going back and forth to watch for those eggs to hatch too. The first time I went to Disney I was in my 50s and had a wonderful time. Even back then everything was expensive.

He took it with his phone. Was like kid when I got over there. This is upstairs. So they should be safe. And he will watch every day he said. Yes he had fun with his family. Of course he told me how expensive everything was. And I told him that is Disney for you. It was his firs trip to Disney. He has been to Florida many times. Good memories made for all of them.
