I had plan to eat breakfast like every other morning today and decided to eat the good old fashion breakfast cereal with coffee for today by pouring the cereal in the bowl, adding chocolate syrup on it and lastly grabbing the milk from the refrigerator only realizing that I forgot to buy milk last night. In my mind thinking how could i forget buying milk, it was in the grocery list i made yesterday.I didn't know what to do at that point everything was prepare only there was no milk so i decided to think out of the box and use a quarter cup of evaporated milk and quarter cup of water to replace milk and poured it on my cereal and that was my breakfast for today. It tasted differently but i had to try something.Have you ever substitute milk with anything else on your cereal?

I keep evaporated milk at home just in case I forget to buy fresh milk. You are right, the taste is different, but it saves the day.

Not that comes to mind--when I realize I don't have milk for cereal, I wind up having something else.

No, but only because we keep a box of powdered milk in the cupboard in case we run out of milk for something. I can't have cow's milk, because I'm allergic to it. My daughter, Pretty, and I use almond milk in our cooking and in her smoothies.

I just did something similar about a week ago, where I forgot to buy milk even though it was on my grocery list. I used coffee creamer as a substitute!

@sica98 It really didn’t taste all that different, although it was a little creamier than regular milk.

Not a bad idea ,I might just try that even having milk, just to see how it goes with cereal.

@sica98 If you want only milk with oats you have to keep milk in store.

Yes, I've done the exact same thing before. Then, I used canned milk, with added a different flavor. On oatmeal, it's even better this way!

You're lucky you had evaporated milk! I live just 5 minutes walk from Marukai, so, I'm ok.
