The Trip To Paridise

I've been home for several days now after a trip to my sons home. I was needed to help out during a time when my grandson needed supervision. Yeah, I KNOW, right? Anyway, it was a month of my life that I'll never forget. My daughter-in-law was away and my son had to work early. I was responsible to get the boy to the bus on time. Wake him up, breakfast, pack lunch, out the door in time for the bus. I was secretly nervous that I'd make some mistake. For the last week of school, we had time to watch TV before having to leave. We were a team. My son and I nailed him with Silly String just off the bus on his last day of school. The good stuff. That's just one story. Wait until I write about the barf in the hot tub, the dinosaur fight, shooting bb guns, feeding the birds, squirrels and the raccoon that came right up. A buck walked right up to me. I have photo proof on request too lol. So many stories. I'm guessing there will be enough to bore everyone for the next six months. I ended up staying longer than the two weeks I had planned but it was the most wonderful time I've ever had. I got time. I spent weeks with them all talking and helping out and playing dice games and just absorbing it all in. I had been in kind of a rut the past couple of years and this trip to paradise was JUST what I needed. They thanked ME. I was the one that needed to hand out the thank you. I was reminded of what was really important and was lucky enough to get to live it again. I'll never forget this trip. Have you ever been stuck in a place where you view most news negatively? That the world is doomed, divided and falling apart? Then something happens. In my case it was hanging out for a month with a bunch of ten year olds and my son and his wife. What is it that makes you trust that everything will be ok?

Glad to see you back. That was definitely a very fulfilling experience for you - a win win situation You got the opportunity to help out and it was kind of like therapy for you. Wonderful.

@Vikingswest1 You're welcome. You aren't talking about a dollar bill you wrapped an apple slice in, right?

It was awesome. I can't wait to go back. It was really fun. It tapped into memories when I walked my own children to the bus for school twenty-five years ago.
