This morning based on this photo's time stamp at 8:43 AM, we experienced an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 in Baguio City, Philippines. How strong is that? When it happens, I was having my ritual in the toilet and ran immediately. I called our two kiddies to calmly move fast outside the house. Our twins and the mom went out for their checkups. I called them up and the rest of the family, and we are all safe.
As I googled it, I found that it is not only the Philippines but also Japan, Taiwan, and China experienced an unexpected earthquake. The epicenter is located in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.
Did you experience a strong magnitude of earthquake like this before?

I'm glad to know you and your family are all safe!
No, I've never experienced an earthquake. Lots of tornadoes, but no earthquakes.

@DaddyEvil If I am in that situation, I am going to freak out and pray hard to God. I bet the adrenaline rush struck naturally.

@Shavkat Yes, One tornado followed Pretty and I for a little while and then came up beside our car but far enough away that it didn't pick the car up. We were driving on a raised road and there was no place to pull over and stop to let the tornado leave us behind. (Pretty was about 7 at the time and I didn't want her scared, so I joked that we could take the tornado with us to the amusement park. She laughed and said that would be fun.) After the tornado stayed beside us for about ten minutes, Pretty told me the tornado had to go somewhere else. A couple of minutes later, the tornado turned away from us. I don't know how she knew it would leave but was happy to see it go.

Here in Manila we felt that too but it was not as strong as it was there in your place. NDRRMC has texted that the epicenter is in Abra which is a 7.3. I know you are near that and Baguio has experience a very bad one many decades ago. Hope that everyone there did not suffer major damage since a 7.0 is really strong quake already.

@Shavkat Yes I do remember that but I was very far from it and didn't experience it firsthand over there. I just read over the news about the devastation that happened there and I think there was one prominent province mate that was there attending a seminar in one of the hotels there that collapse at that time.

@Shavkat The aftershocks can destroy buildings. Slowly shaking them, I see what you mean.

We had Nepal earthquake in 2015 amd another of high magnitude in 2005.
Luckily for us, the epicenter was away.
I just prey that it did not do much damage to the affected countries and folks are safe!

Yes I felt it because I'm sitting in front of the computer. My head feels heavy and so dizzy. I feel like the ground is swaying

No, we don't normally have earthquakes in Texas, and when I lived in California I was very happy that one didn't happen while I was there. Of course, I don't want anyone else to have one either.

I live in a part of the United States that isn’t “normally” prone to big earthquakes. I do remember one in 2008, centered about 170 miles from me, feeling like a truck had hit my house. California is the part of America that stereotypically gets the most earthquakes here (along with Alaska, but Alaska isn’t as heavily-populated as California).
I’m glad you’re okay, and I hope there wasn’t any serious damage done to your home and no fatalities.
