Monkeypox?

Just when I'm starting to believe just the tiniest bit that maybe we'll survive Covid for the most part.... Here comes monkeypox. I really don't know enough about it to discuss it intelligently, but I'm hoping that as long as I don't pick up any rodents, I'm cool. I don't know how many more of these end of the world happenings I can withstand. But I know the Holy Bible does warn us of things to come. Some days being old isn't too bad after all. Less time on this messed up planet to put up with. I'm betting my life (literally) on being a believer in Jesus Christ. If God is for us, who can be against us?

Satan. He fools everyone into believing he's God.

Yes, but the true God is the one who wins in the end.

@1creekgirl That's a comforting thought ... but the truth might be a little different. Think of Jesus' execution---maybe you believe he Resurrected, but the Romans (of His day) thought they had won and didn't really care what happened to his body.

@mythociate Yeah, but he did come back to life and was seen by many people, not just his disciples.

you need to exchange body fluids with enough people to get it

@1creekgirl meaning that less body fluids can't help transmit the virus or what?@58lordstreet

98% of the people getting monkeypox are gay and bisexual men. That's not a guess, I was reading about it this morning. It doesn't mean it's impossible to get, a toddler was just diagnosed with it. But it's a real problem for gay men.

@1creekgirl And wouldn’t blue monkey disease be an exotic ailment to catch? So long as it didn’t hurt.

On BBC Radio 4 they had an interesting discussion about pandemics. The panel felt that we are likely to be seeing these more frequently, which didn't sound too great!

I don't doubt it. The Bible warns of these things closer to the return of Jesus.

And not a moment too soon. I know at my age I won't have too many years left on this earth, but if Jesus delays his return, I dread what our grandchildren might have to go through. That's why it's so important for them to know Jesus.

It is scary to be reading about this new illness just on the heels of covid. From what I understand it is transmitted thru bodily fluids, but I am waiting for them to announce that people are contracting it from unscreened blood transfusions. We have a friend who contracted HIV that way, and it was no fault of their own, it was because they were not screening the blood donated at that time.

Monkeypox is only transmissible through body fluids, of course it can spread to anyone through close, skin-to-skin contact. I try to keep distance from people I do not know.

So you get monkeypox from mice, then why is it called monkeypox?

The CDC wrote that rodents are likely the origin of monkeypox. Not sure why it's named that.

You have to be in close contact to catch it. There is a vaccine available I think. God certainly is giving us a lot of challenges!

These things will keep on coming COVID, MONKEYPOX and later something else because there are business to be run on them, do you get what I am pointing towards. God is always there but he might be regretting giving humans intellect, he thought they will do good and live peacefully but you see what's going on.

Do you remember the story in the Bible about how the people were so smart that they thought they could build a tower to heaven? God scattered their language and so called intellect. We're not as smart as we'd like to think we are.

@1creekgirl Yeah that's also true, but we cannot deny one thing for sure we are shapers of this earth and so will be the reason to end it someday. And we have already prepared the nuclear powers only a few have them but they are more than enough to destroy the whole planet earth multiple times.

I like this verse: "If God is for us, who can be against us?" I believe so too. That's what I rely on when everything seems so dark and uncertain. When there seems to be no light in the dark, I just surrender everything to him.

It makes me think of Jesus stating it will be the beginning of birth pains. There is so much drought and heat and as you said sicknesses going around. I also am believing I will be saved by believing in Jesus Christ.
