My Fruit Disaster

United States
July 30, 2022 6:54pm CST
I drink a lot of smoothies and buy most of my fruit frozen, which adds a bit of an ice cream texture. To me the most expensive fruits are cherries, and that's the fruit I like the most in my smoothies. I usually buy the biggest bags that I can find, which I am now deciding this isn't the best idea, since I pulled the bag out of the freezer upside down( it was only used once before this) and cherries spilled out all over the counters and all over the floor. Only three pieces of fruit were saved in the bag. Not only did I throw about 12 dollars away, there was a huge mess everywhere. My first thought was to run away to Alaska, but instead I cleaned it up adding my tears to clean the floors. Not really, I just liked how overdramatic that sounded. What's the biggest mess you've created lately?

@sjvg1976 I doubt they would be mad at you for an accident. No one gets mad in our home for accidents.

You made me smile, you remind me of a child crying over her spilled milk. But I am that way at times as well. The worst that has happened to me in my old age was when I was carrying all my food to my room without a tray and everything fell to the floor when my bedroom door swung back and forth while I was about to enter. I cried out loud as well because I was very hungry and tired then.

Too bad for the cherries, I have not had good cherries in a long time, I have not made any big messes lately but I am constantly picking up after messes that my kittens make, I always have to be careful where I put my feet because something can be right under them,

Cherries are a great source of vitamin C. Pity you lost them, but accidents do happen.

I think I will buy the smaller bags so if this happens again I won't lose so much.

Oh no! I would have to make sure that the mess won't be known by the member of the family if that happens to me. Worst mess for me when I spilled my drinks into my friend's pants.

Did you throw the cherries? Why not to wash them immediately and use them?

@misunderstood_zombie Should it had been cooked food I understand, but fruits are not clean when you buy them, a lot dirtier than after falling on your floor. At most I would have added a bit of baking soda to the water.

@LadyDuck When you just said cooked food, I realized I should have washed them off and made a cobbler or muffins with them. The heat would have killed any water.

You poor thing! You know what... I buy frozen french fries, tater tots and onion rings. I only need a little at a time. Thus, I use rubber band upon these bags and no spills. Just today, I cut my green onions for freezing. Placed them on paper towels unfortunately, it's 2 , 4" preferated ones. Thought they'd hold as I was putting them over my freezer bag, they split!!!!!! I lost a handful!

That's a great idea to put rubber bands around them. I could buy some at the dollar store also. That's a shame about the green onions. I never thought to freeze them before, another good idea.

@Beestring I like it a lot. It's somewhat like ice cream and sometimes I will pour it in a bowl and freeze it and eat it like ice cream.

I roasted the side of an old plastic bowl I have. I got it too close to the skillet while I was making pancakes. The bowl is about 40 years old. I think I got my use out of it.
