Too Many Girls in the Family?

The photo is me with my four granddaughters. It was taken a few months ago. The girls were 9, 5, 5 and 3 at the time. And no, I don't believe there is such a thing as "too many" of one gender in any family. Every person is a unique blessing! In my family of origin, we have an abundance of girls! I have one son and one daughter, but six nieces. Now four granddaughters. It seems to be a common occurrence for families to have more of one gender than the other. Do any of you have many more males than females or vice-versa? But wait! I have news! My daughter is expecting a baby boy in September!

Congratulations in advance to your daughter! One of my aunts, she had all 3 males. I mean, 3 male cousins. So female. But one of my another aunt, had all 6 daughters.

I grew up in a household of mostly girls, but my sisters had a mix of each. Though when my nieces and nephews started having kids, they had a lot of boys first.

My parents had 9 children. There were 4 girls and 5 boys. They had 2 girls and 3 boys in the first batch, waited 6 years, then had 2 girls and 2 boys. I was in the 2nd batch of kids. So I was hanging out with my older brothers and sisters when I was young. Many times my older sisters would babysit us younger kids while my parents went on short vacations or worked overtime to cover expenses of a large family.

Thanks for commenting @randytoo. I think your family might be the exception, having an almost equal number of boys and girls.

Congrats to your daughter. It's similar to my mother-in-law. She has 5 grandkids. My husband and I have 3 and his sister 2. My mother-in-law has 4 granddaughters and 1 grandson, who is the youngest. She never really cared whether it was a boy or girl, so long as it was healthy. And as much as my husband and I did want one of each before having kids, we were going to love our kids no matter the gender.

Thank you for sharing @dodo19! Yes I agree with you, your husband and MIL. The gender really doesn't matter at all when it comes to love.

Wow, finally a boy. YaY. Well, both my parents are from larger families. Mom's parents had 5, 4 girls and a boy. Dad's family had 5, 3 boys 2 girls. I suppose they were female dominant?

My sister had 5 sons and I had 2 so my mother had to wait quite a few years before she was blessed with a great grand-daughter.

We also have tons of girls in the family compared to boys. You will never get lonely with a ton of these little cuties to keep you company. Congrats to her and your family!!!

I congratulate your daughter and wish you a lot of strength and good health. My family is different. My mom has 4 of us and these are 2 daughters and 2 sons. Including one pair, daughter and son are twins. However, in the next line (this is the name) there is an advantage of boys. I have 2 sons, my sister has 1 son and my brother has a daughter. Everything the other way around. The most important thing, however, is that the children are healthy, regardless of gender :)

If the girls are just less than 10. then it's not many.

There can never be enough girls in the world, especially if they are mini Dianas! There are more girls than boys in my family going back a few generations, so you’re not alone. Lovely photo

That is great news about the baby boy. I have an equal number of boys and girls in my grandchildren. But so far only one great grand daughter. The rest are boys.

Congratulations on your daughter expecting a baby boy in September! My mother-in-law always wanted a daughter, but she had two boys (one is my husband). When her sons got married, she wanted boy grandchildren, but she got four grandsons! She finally ended up getting a girl great-grandchild. She had to be super patient to realize her dream, LOL!

Hi @gtdoss and thanks for sharing! I saw a family on tv who had ten boys and were trying to decide if they would try again for a girl!
