Here it is, only the beginning of August and Christmas postage stamps are on sale already. This is crazy, it's still over four months until Christmas. Getting ready for Christmas is coming earlier and earlier each year! I'm afraid I don't believe in this commercialism and, like every other year, my Christmas preparations will start either in the last week of November or the first week of December.

Unfortunately, the commercialism of Christmas is here to stay. Soon, the stores will be showing some xmas stuff too.

One year, WalMart refused to put up Christmas decorations. They didn't want to offend the ones who aren't believers. Their sales dropped about 40%! We didn't buy a single item from them. My thoughts about this HA HA, WalMart got what they deserved!

Lol, if I bought something now I'd probably forget I had it and buy something all over again.

I would feel sick noticing anything about Christmas in August. My Christmas preparations starts the 6th of December, day of St. Nicholas.

@LadyDuck when do your schools start again? Our school year runs from February to December, with the summer break over Christmas.

@wolfgirl569 I upgraded a few years ago, but I'm a real minimalist at Christmas.

Yeah, it's nuts. They could wait until the weather cools off a little bit at least.

I know what you mean. I am not surprised to hear this. Soon I'll start to see Halloween stuff, then usually Christmas, even though Thanksgiving is in-between.

@valmnz I know. Here in the U.S. we have something we call grey Thursday. And, that's because some stores start sales in the evening of Thanksgiving day. It's disgusting.

It definitely does seem a bit early for Christmas stamps. Pretty soon Christmas will be a year long push and not limited to the later part of the year.

We never do very much for Christmas, even though we had a tree put up. By New Year, we took it down. Commercialism is terrible, money is all those companies really care about!

So many people fall into the trap and end up paying for it all year.

@valmnz We never do that, maybe a small gift for each one. Last year, we sent cards and bought no presents. The cost of things has gone through the roofWe can't afford to go in debt, to express love!

Exactly, first week of December is plenty of time. And kids get excited if it's too early, they have no concept of time.
