Today was Heart Day

Every year on August 4th I celebrate my own personal "Heart Day." I had a heart attack on August 4th in 2005 (long story but I was going through a divorce) and I am so happy I survived that heart attack. I was 45. They told me when I was in the hospital that only 50% of people that have heart attacks actually survive. I consider myself blessed to have survived it with little to no damage also. So every year I remember that day and thank God that I am still alive. And hope that I have lived my life in a way that He approved of. Today I have survived for 17 years after a heart attack. Hurray! Have you ever had a heart attack?

Congratulations! Happy personal Heart Day! I never had heart issues but I was in a terrible car accident when I was 19 (barely made it) and I celebrate my ‘second birthday’ on October 15th . I also feel blessed and try to live my life accordingly. Cheers to us and many more years to come!

@Ronrybs Well I had a scare a few weeks ago when I ended up in the hospital, but all seems well now and I have started to walk more and exercise more in general so here's hoping I have a lot of years left here on this earth!

@kouponkaren No, but my daughter had very extensive open heart surgery related to her Downs Syndrome when she was 11 weeks old 21 years ago. On 6 June each year we celebrate Happy Heart Day.

I’m lucky. I’ve had health problems but never a heart attack. You’re lucky too. You survived.

@Kouponkaren To me luck and blessings are the same. It’s when something good happens rather than bad.

@RubyHawk I preferred using the term "blessed" rather than lucky as I don't believe in luck but I do believe in God's blessings. I have had many! (Blessings, not heart attacks thankfully!)
