Nice to be Back Home

Vacations are nice, and this one to St. George Island in the Florida panhandle was no exception. But it is also nice to get back home to one's creature comforts once the recharge has been set. It's funny, by the time you get to the end of vacation you are actually ready to be home. After all, it's not a vacation if it is every day. I will share some pictures over the course of time from our trip. Beyond that it was also nice that we came in well under budget, and while my rule on vacation is not to worry about the money, it is still nice when you didn't keep the wallet tight but still did not blow the budget. Leaves a little bit for the next round to be even more fun. ***Image is a view from one of the three back porches of the house we rented.***

Hope you enjoyed your vacation. The greenery looks lovely from the house.

Thank you. Yeah, those are on the dunes which they hold near and dear and protect as much as they can in the panhandle. One is not supposed to walk on them or disturb them, thus a dual purpose for the long walkways to the beach.

@porwest Why would you think that? Did you see my eyes rolling clear from your house?

@porwest I agree. I don't care for camping, but I still want a home to come home to wherever we go.

There IS something to be said about being home, even if St. George Island was a bit of a slice of paradise. I have often said that even when it comes to the RV lifestyle, I definitely will one day own an RV, but I could never do it full time. Gotta have a home base.

@1creekgirl Camping, camping is certainly not my style. My days of sleeping in a tent are long gone. But I very much like the RVs. But yes, maybe a couple weeks out and a month home and then out for a couple weeks and another month home...that would be more my speed. Might be inclined, though, to ditch the winter weather and head for warmer climates and then maybe just come back around the holidays.

At times when the vacation is coming to an end it feels like it went by too fast. Did it feel that way for you?

@porwest Sometimes vacations seem to drag but once they are over seems they ended too soon.

It is always like that for me. Certainly the days wear on much quicker on vacation than when I am in the office.

@lovebuglena I agree completely. I don't mind if I a vacation has to end. But retirement? That's not really a vacation. It's just not having to be a slave to a job.

What a lovely location. I'm glad you had a good time. If I went to Florida, I would not want to come home (Florida Keys). Good to have you back.

@porwest $4.5 million? I knew beachfront houses were expensive but.....

@LindaOHio It's been one heck of a real estate market. That's part of it. All things considered, it actually seems reasonable for what you get.

I was thinking about just buying the house we stayed at. It was only $4.5 million. Might have to check the coin jar to see if I have enough. Good to be back. Missed y'all.

@luisga814 I do sometimes prefer just a couple of day getaways, but sometimes you just need a stronger recharge.

Having the beach right outside your back door is the way to go anymore. I won't do it any other way anymore. A bit more expensive, but worth every single penny.

What a view! You poor man, having to endure that for your entire vacation. Can’t wait to hear all the exploits!

I got a thing or two to tell. Gives me lots of fodder for posts I guess. lol. Besides, some might actually enjoy me talking about something other than politics and money. But of course I may still toss in a few bits of that in the discussions anyway. I can't help myself, you know. lol

It is always nice when you have had all the fun you wanted, never once felt pinched for money, and still came home with a little something. The best of all worlds.

I know, right? It was a great time. Very relaxing and I feel like I am fully recharged now. For a little while anyway. lol Liked St. George Island a bit better than Cape San Blas, where we stayed last year.

Glad to know that you enjoyed your vacation. I agree with your point that we should keep our pockets tight when we are on a tour on vacation. I dont mind paying some extra money to have fun or comfort on tour on vacations.

Such a nice view. Almost makes me glad I live in Florida year-round! Haha You are lucky you came in under budget. Most of the time I’m not so lucky on my vacations. I’m like you, I don’t worry about money when I’m on vacation, but looking at those receipts when I get back home often makes my heart skip a beat or two.

It is one of those views I could never get tired of. Nothing like standing out on the porch with a hot cup of coffee and watching the sunrise as the waves crash to the shore. Very relaxing.

@porwest I look forward to seeing your pictures. I guess for me it depends on the vacation. Some I wish I never had to leave and others I am happy when they are over. I am glad you did not have to worry about the money while on vacation. I love the picture you put with the post. It looks amazing.
