Do You Like Space Shows?

Does anyone on MyLot like shows about space? I love all of the Star Treks, The Orville, and Doctor Who (David Tennant and Matt Smith seasons). What's even better is that my husband also likes shows about space! So whenever we watch them, on our separate computers (we don't own a TV), we always talk about them later and compare notes. The Orville is probably my favorite out of all of them. What started out as a Star Trek parody is now a full-fledged actual space show! How about you? Do you love them, hate them, or are you thoroughly indifferent about them? Image by Peter Fischer from Pixabay

While science fiction is not my mainstay, per se. I am a HUGE fan of Star Trek. The original series and The Next Generation though. I did not like most of the other spin offs. Star Wars was only good for the first three movies, but I have not enjoyed any of the new ones at all. Space and space exploration and the idea of other worlds and other lifeforms does fascinate me though.

Yeah, I liked the original Star Wars movies as well, the ones from the 1977, 1980, and 1983. I've never even watched the ones since then.

By "old style effects," do you like in the original Star Trek with Captain Kirk? Because I loved that stuff to for what it was. There was something very charming about it that the new shows don't have.

@gtdoss I watched one or two. They were just dull to me, and I much preferred the old style effects—maybe I am just old school.

I guess I like them so much because they have interesting elements in them that you wouldn't have in regular drama shows.

I am not a big fan but I do watch them from time to time. Depends on if techy or not.

@gtdoss .......I enjoy techy. New technology is so interesting and a lot of it is shown in these 'space' movies before they come to use.

Oh yeah, I've seen almost all the Star Trek shows but I've never heard of Orville, I'll have to check that out. Have ever watched Star Gate SG1? It's pretty kool, it has 10 seasons. Star Gate Atlantis is kool too especially after they hired Jason Momoa to play a character on it.

I guess I have never paid attention to Star Gate since the first show aired some years ago. I've never even heard of Star Gate SG1 and Star Gate Atlantis. I will definitely be checking them out!

Yeah, I get that. I used to like horror shows and movies when I was younger, but then my tastes changed and I don't watch them anymore.

If Star Trek was one of your favorites, you may well love The Orville. It started out as kind of a parody of Star Trek but grew into the fabulous show that it is now!

As a kid, I watched the original Star Trek shows and, when I was a little older and working my first job, bought the books about the original Star Trek. I watched a few of the Next Generation shows but wasn't very invested in those and have ignored subsequent shows.

I know I saw some of the original Star Trek, but I really didn't pick up the space show or science fiction habit until I got married to my husband. He's a huge space show/science fiction guy and kind of got me in the habit of watching such shows!

@gtdoss Dad hated Star Trek when it first aired so we kids had to watch it when he wasn't home. It sounds like you have a good hubby.

I actually understand where you're coming from. Like I told someone further up the list, I used to enjoy horror shows and movies, but now I can't stand them.

not really my favourite genre, lost interest in films where they dont make them in order lol, seems like cashing in on something when they exhausted the original story

I feel that same way about Star Wars, but Star Trek has managed to keep my attention. So many ways to go with it!
