Pop-Pop-Pop-Popcorn!

Every once in a while, my husband and I have popcorn for an evening snack. We can't have it together too often, because I can't eat very much salt, and popcorn is no good to me without salt. So there you have it! We get our popcorn from Amish Country Popcorn, which is an online order. They have a lot to choose from, everything from mushroom popcorn (I love it!) to baby white, to rainbow, you name it! We also buy the butter salt and dill seasoning from their site. Also, we pop it in our Whirley Pop (on the stove), also bought from online. It has really bumped our popcorn enjoyment up to a new level! Do you eat popcorn? If so, what brand do you get, and how do you make it? (Image is my own)

No, I don't like popcorn. Maybe if it tasted as good as it smells, I'd eat it, but it doesn't. Pretty likes it though.

@gtdoss No, I get the outside of the corn kernels caught between my teeth and that drives me crazy.

Oh, yes, now I get it. I can't stand when the outside of the corn kernels get caught between my teeth either! That's why I keep floss at my desk, LOL!

Do you like caramel corn or kettle corn, then? I like them as well, just can't have it very often!

Yes, I like popcorn. It’s Clancy’s fat free popcorn. I pop it in the microwave.

It's nice that you have a popcorn that you enjoy eating that's fat free. I'm not a big fan of microwave popcorn, though. My husband will have it that way when I don't want popcorn.

We used to buy microwave popcorn, (which only my husband would eat), but it got so expensive around us, so that's when we invested in a Whirley-Pop from the Whirley-Pop Shop. It's only about $25, but it cooks the popcorn the old fashioned way on the stove without burning it. It's also extremely quick!

I think I buy Jiffy popcorn. It is yellow and I have to have butter and salt on it.

I don't blame you. The popcorn they sell at the theater is way too expensive!

I like it, but seldom make it, unless someone gives me some. There are some seasonings that are salt free that might taste good to you.

Yeah, I've tried a few, but I guess I just associate popcorn with butter and salt. Maybe I'll try some other seasonings...

I enjoy popcorn of every type and variety, but like you can't have it that often due to the salt content. Like you said, popcorn is no good without the salt. But every once in a while I throw caution to the wind and enjoy some heavily salted and buttered popcorn! This past Wednesday, I had a late lunch and so wasn't hungry enough to make dinner when I got home from work. Both my daughter and girlfriend were working late that night, so I didn't need to worry about making them food. So what did I do? I made two bags of popcorn as my "dinner" and sat and binged-watched a couple of tv shows. And I was in absolute heaven!

@gtdoss I enjoyed it tremendously, but it’s not something I could do every night even if I wanted to. All that salt and butter would drive me nuts if I was consuming it every day.

Those seasonings intrigue me. My daughter is eating more vegies these days. She sprinkles popcorn seasonings on raw bell peppers and eats it for a snack. I put some oil in a deep saucepan, heat the pan up pretty hot, toss popcorn in and slam the lid on tight then shake the pan until all the corn is popped. Nutritional yeast and garlic for me and cayenne for hubby for seasonings.

I remember once at my work office getting a big tub of chocolate-covered popcorn from a client. It was so good! Haven't been able to find anything like it since.

I really love caramel corn, but we don't have it too much because my husband has been a diabetic since childhood (type 1) and can't really eat stuff like that except for once in a blue moon.
