Question: "What’s your guilty pleasure?"

As I get older, I need to watch how much food I eat. It must consume as much nutritious food as is possible. When I eat something unhealthy, I occasionally feel like I'm cheating or guilty. Taking sweet or salty food as an example. I had two pieces of cake for breakfast this morning. I'm making an effort to limit my sugar intake. I do not want to develop diabetes mellitus. Do you sometimes have this guilty pleasure or cheating day? Image Credit: imagesvc.meredithcorp.io

I would never eat two pieces of cake, one is enough, as moderation is the key, no matter what you eat.

Although I set to myself not to drink anymore soda specifically to energy drinks. But I can't. I still buy energy drinks a maximum of once a month and soda for twice a month.

I used to be addicted drinking carbonated drinks before. My favorite motto lately is 'Think before you eat.'

@Shavkat I do that, too. I stop and think to myself, do I really want to blow my entire day of healthy eating on this? Is it really worth it? Most often, the answer is no.

Yes, I do that, too, once in a while. As long as my blood sugar remains in the limits set by the doctor, then I will indulge sometimes.

I can feel you. One of my uncles acquired this disease when still in America. Are injecting insulin now?

There are foods I can’t eat due to health problems and I don’t have those foods in my apartment.

Since I am in a borderline of being hypertensive, I need to control my food intake, too. I also have an uncomfortable feeling when not having some vegetables in my system.

Am always guilty of that since I like eating. But so far my sugar levels have not crossed the border yet and my BP as well.

You should eat whatever you want, but if it's unhealthy, only eat 2 bites and no more. Then move along. Your guilty pleasure is over with.

I allow myself the occasional treats. It's easier to stay on track with my eating if I know I can have a treat once or twice a week.

Oh, I see. I heard that Chinese eat everything, but they drink lots of tea after consuming them. Is that right?

@Shavkat China has a large area, so the living habits of some areas can not represent all Chinese people. For example, people in Northeast China like to eat silkworm pupae, but other areas can not accept silkworm pupae. For example, cicadas, grasshoppers and snakes are the habits of a small number of people, which is unacceptable to most Chinese people. Many people like to drink tea, and there are many kinds of tea.
