I told a lie. This is the real Qwacka.

I posted a photo of Qwacka Duck the other day but I told a fib. I thought it was Qwacka but it wasn’t at all. Because this duck was on its own, I thought it was Qwacka but it’s one of a pair that also come for a free handout. Qwacka is actually much more handsome as you can see by this photo of him/her. I think it’s a male but Vince keeps saying ‘she’. We’ll have to ask our hostess when she comes back. Tomorrow, we go to a horse endurance ride at Bakers Hill. We have to pick up the caravan on the way and, all in all, it will probably take us about four hours to get there. We come back here the next day and will bring the caravan with us.

Male ducks are usually more colorful. I do not know this species, but I think this is a male.

@JudyEv The mallards look very different, you cannot miss the male from the female.

At times, we all are victims of "glorified" illusions or confusions!! So it is fine! By Caravan, you mean a moving Motorized van?

@JudyEv Well the picture makes it quite clear! The Towing vehicle would perhaps be a strong 4 by 4 Drive? Or not?

For us, a caravan is towed by another vehicle. A motor-home is a single vehicle which includes accommodation. Here is a photo of our caravan. The car is attached at the front - on the left.

In my opinion this is a male, it seems that he has a sort of "curl" on the feather on his bottom, mallard males have the same, not the female.

@JudyEv I have only seen male ducks with the curl on their top tail.

Because of the colouring, I think it is a male but the bit about the tail is a good point.

He is handsome. I am going to say its a he. Most breeds here that have a different colored head than body that is the male. In those breeds the female will be all one color

@JudyEv Also does he have a curled tail feather? Thats another good sign for a male. Maybe if you overload Vince with evidence he will change his mind

It's easy to make mistakes when you aren't familiar with some animals at first... or if you haven't paid much attention, too. I don't know that species so it could be a male or a female, as far as I would know. It is a handsome duck, whichever it is. Just drive carefully and have a lot of fun at the endurance ride. Take lots of pictures, please.

Our friend said Qwacka was a loner and the first one I saw was on its own so I just assumed it was Qwacks. Yes, thanks, I'll take plenty of photos.

If it looks like a Qwacka duck and sounds like a Qwacka duck, it must be a Qwacka duck, right?

What an adorable duck, regardless if its a she or a he. If JJ sees this, he will know what it will identify with, he seems to know so much about animals. Enjoy the ride, I'm sure that you will get lots of great shots.
